Warpaint Reviews:
Great Black Crowes
2009-12-11 - For anyone that has loved the 80's Crowes, they are back in this absolutely brilliant album. This is a collection of fantastic tunes and a very well paced album. I may have structured some of the albums earlier tracks over towards the end of the album, but when Chris has a story to tell you can't tell him otherwise. This album is great and this is from someone that likes the Southern rock with that slight funk/blues tinge and this was a very good "fix" for me. I kept this album in my CD player for 2 weeks solid and I still love it just as much as I did on Day One. Buy it. Great album.
ANOTHER GREAT ALBUM!!!
2009-09-19 - THE BLACK CROWES STRIKED ANOTHER GREAT HIT WITH THIS PRODUCTION TITLED "WARPAINT".AN SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SOUND(OR SHOULD I SAY STYLE)BUT STILL A GREAT CREATION.THE LYRICS,THE VOCALS AND THE WHOLE BAND DELIVERED AS ALWAYS A SUPERB ALBUM THAT I AM SURE ANY CROWE'S FAN CAN APPRECIATE AND ENJOY ENDLESSLY.
Time will tell... and it has
2009-07-04 - Okay, it's only been about a year since I first heard this album.... and as a huge fan of the Crowes heavier rock side, this was a it of a disappointment at first and I've thought of it as weak for quite some time..... but the true test of an album and music to me is how many tracks I wind up putting on my CD mixes for my car and into "best of" compilations. And since 6 of eleven songs (or 7 of thirteen if you count the bonus tracks) wind up on my mixes, I guess I've changed my mind. It grows on you pretty fast!
GREAT STUFF & GIMME MORE
2009-05-16 - 7 years later the " most rock & roll, rock & roll " band the Black Crowes give us WARPAINT. this Disc has it all, Rock, Blues, Country & some Cycadellica. For any Crowes fan this is there best effort to date, music wise. For new fans great place to start, but could be hard to work their catalog of music back to front.
masterpiece? seems to be.
2009-04-12 - Although this album seems to have more than one less-than-inspired song structure and individual performance, in actuality it's a trick. The album and its individual songs constitute a remarkable piece of American rock music. The group is in total control of their vision. Don't misinterpret the at times restrained and intentionally understated playing for blandness. It's supposed to be that way and the result is just marvelous. Is it a concept album? I think it qualifies. Is it greater than the sum of its parts? Yes. A modern day masterpiece that blossoms with American musical roots. Damn.
