Editorial Review:
THE E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)
The new album by The Black Eyed Peas is off to a blazing start! The first single from The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies), BOOM BOOM POW was also the Peas' very first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!
With The E.N.D., The Peas are poised to continue with the success of Elephunk and their fourth release Monkey Business - they have had multiple hit anthems, such as "My Humps" "Pump It" and "Let's Get It Started" along with "Don't Phunk With My Heart" "Where is the Love?" and "Don't Lie".
In the midst of the success of the Black Eyed Peas, FERGIE released her debut solo album, The Dutchess, in 2006. To date the album has sold over six million copies worldwide and spanned five Top 5 hits. Moreover, Fergie became the first female artist in history to have four consecutive #1 singles (Billboard).
Will.i.am is also a Grammy nominated producer - nominated for the Producer of The Year Award in 2007 and nominated again at the 2009 Grammy's. He has lent his services to some of the biggest superstars in the business; Fergie, The Pussycat Dolls, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Ricky Martin, Justin Timberlake, Diddy, Nas, Michael Jackson, Usher, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and U2. Besides his music endeavors, will.i.am is committed to social activism and is an outspoken advocate of progressive political initiatives. His "Yes We Can" video won an EMMY and a Webby Award and has over 19 million views on YouTube to date.
The Black Eyed Peas have sold over 20 million albums worldwide, have won three Grammy awards and have been nominated for 11 total as well as awards won at Teen Choice, MTV, American Music Awards, among many others from around the world!
THE E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) Reviews:
THE E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)
2009-12-21 - THE E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) being BEP's 5th studio album and their 2009 release is a mix of hip-hop, dance-pop, electropop and synthpop. The sound is very different then their previous releases and many reviewers did not like this change. However, a group can not produce the same kind of music constantly since then they do not grow but stunt their own development. "Boom Boom Pow" is an amazing track and other great tracks are "Meet Me Halfway" and "I Gotta Feeling". The album received surprisingly low reviews and Allmusic, Slant and Spinn all gave it between 2.5 and 3/5 which is way too low. To me this is a great dance record and I give it a solid 4. The album did quite well in several countries and reached number one in countries such as Australia, France and New Zealand. 4/5.
This is the best CD ever!!
2009-12-20 - The CD has several songs that I really like, I'm not a big fan of Black Eyed Peas but this is one of my favorites.
Satisfied
2009-12-15 - CD's arrived on time. Eventhough disc #1 of this 2 disc set was inoperable, I would use the seller again. The replacement process was extraordinarily smooth, professional, and positive. No complaints here; things happen. It's nice to know that their response time and impeccable customer service in such cases is superb.
Mediocre
2009-12-10 - I received the CD, however, the case came broken. I rated this sale 3 starts because eventhough the CD worked fine, the overall product was average.
2-1/2 stars -- Is it over yet?
2009-12-07 - Ever since Elephunk, the Black Eyed Peas have straddled the line between mainstream and hardcore. How? Their language and subject matter still lean toward the adult set but the songs are still radio-friendly. After Monkey Business the group took a break, and will.i.am and Fergie both issued solo releases. While The Dutchess blew up, I think I'm the only person that picked up Songs About Girls. Anyway, now the group got back together for The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies)
First off, even before Fergie joined the fold, BEP never were the most amazing rappers; still, there are a couple of gems. "Boom Boom Pow" is one of those songs that I tried really hard not to like, but it grew on me now (maybe it's because of the beat; more on that later). And "I Gotta Feeling" is a catchy tune that is the album's highlight. "Meet Me Halfway" is okay even though apl.de.ap's verse isn't the most creative.
As usual, Will handles production, but the problem is that he seems to be aiming for some futuristic house music-type stuff with an incoherent mix of auto-tune, vocoder AND chopped-and-screwed. Such tracks include "Imma Be", "Rockin to the Beat" and "Out of My Head". But things aren't much better when they shoot for "standard" fare either: "Now Generation" initially sounds like a metaphor for Generation Y until you realize they really ARE talking about computers, and the sexual "Ring-A-Ling" is just plain wack. And Fergie's solo "Electric City" features the line: "Bitches on my d/They on my d***o". Um...
Mistakes continue: "Rock That Body" lazily lifts Rob Base's "It Takes Two", and the obligatory end-of-album we-are-the-world song "One Tribe" is pretty okay. The E.N.D. is the kind of disc that would only sound good in the club because it's really another one of those at-least-they-released-the-right-songs albums.
