Description of The Best of Blondie:
While Best Of may not be inclusive enough for the avid collector because it focuses more on Blondie's new wave dance hits than on their punk beginnings, songs like "Heart of Glass," "Dreaming," "The Tide Is High," and "Call Me" display the diverse musical styles this band embraced. It's a new wave album, a reggae album, a dance album, a punk album, and a rap album. Rock-solid songwriting and Debbie Harry's sultry vocals hold the CD together despite the stylistic reaches of the tracks. --Beth Bessmer

The Best of Blondie Reviews:
Classic Greatest Hits Album 5 Star Review
2009-11-17 - This collection of songs for Rock N Roll Hall of Famers BLONDIE is as classic as Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits (1974) Areosmith's Greatest (1980) and so on!

This classic album features 4 US #1's, 4 UK top #10's and 4 US top #40 hits.

This album is also special because of 4 Special Mixes produced by longtime producer Mike Chapman available only on this disc.

Heart Of Glass (Special Mix) unlike it's single version this version is a combination of the 12" disco Instrumental and the original version.

Sunday Girl (Special Mix) Originally recorded in english and a french version this version follows the success of UK Hit Denis and switches to the french version half way through then back to english. In my opinon this adds to the wonderful melody.

In The Flesh (Special Mix) remixed to sound more like Phil Spctor's sixites wall - of - sound. Very Ronnie Spector-ish.

Rapture (Special Mix) This version re-edited from the 10 minute disco mix includes a rare thrid verse not available on the album or single verison.

Don't forget this also includes the Album Versions of Atomic, One Way Or Another, and The Tide Is High. All other collections contain the single mixes; Which frankly on several selections lose out on certain nuances that made these particular songs and the band so ground breaking.

New Wave at its best. 5 Star Review
2009-08-13 - The Best of Blondie is the perfect greatest hits album. This album is for casual fans of Blondie, but if you want the full New Wave experience - then I recommend purchasing all their studio albums. This album has some of their gems including Call Me, Heart of Glass, Rip Her to Shreds, One Way or Another and (I'm Always Touched by your) Presence Dear. Debbie Harry's voice is not flawless but that's ok because the guys make up for that with their signature and diverse sound. Great cd for Blondie beginners, enjoy!

Blondie's Bests 5 Star Review
2009-01-23 - The Best of Blondie is forty-four minutes and thirteen seconds long and was released on October 31, 1981. The album reached #30 on the US Billboard 200 Album Chart and went Double Platinum. If you just want the group most popular songs then this is for you. The Best of Blondie gets an AAA+++.

A GREAT START TO YOUR BLONDIE ADVENTURE 5 Star Review
2008-06-25 - Supergroup BLONDIE burst on the scene just as I was winding up my college days and I wasn't nearly into the music scene then as I had been earlier in my life because I was starting to struggle for the legal tender so I was keeping clubbing to a minimum.

But you'd have had to live in a cave somewhere in the uncharted ocean to have not heard HEART OF GLASS, RAPTURE, OR CALL ME back in those heady days.

Anyway, like most people, I still had not learnt how to truly appreciate the fine wine that is music, in its various genres, and I consigned BLONDIE to the status, in my mind, of sort of a glamorized bubble gum power pop.

20-30 years slide on by....

But over the years, like the best of these fine wines that one's ears want to taste and taste over again, I found myself playing this CD among a very select few when I REALLY wanted to "rock out".

So I say to you, if somehow you are just now discovering BLONDIE, this CD will make a great start to your musical adventure. If you like the best in rock, pop, and theater, you are probably gonna want all four of the first albums by this New York supergroup!
