Editorial Review:
Take a chance & roll the dice on this rock & roll road novel and hitch a ride with Jack Morrison AKA the Jack of Hearts, and his Mexican sidekick, the one-armed small change bandit, as they road trip through the American Southwest. From the casinos of Las Vegas to the cliffs of the Grand Canyon, the saga careens through the violent world of organized crime, sinks into the seedy sleazy world of virtual sex, and makes an offbeat detour into the psychedelic mayhem of the Deadhead universe.

With flashbacks to Vietnam, a lurid tale of sex, drugs, murder, and rock and roll, goes down late 20th Century style, as a Vietnam veteran long-on-the-lam, his pal, and his pal's tag-along jailbait girlfriend--the precocious Sugar-Spun Sister--get more than they bargain for when a routine game of blackjack becomes a bloodbath. Jack is forced to play hero, only to have his past sneak up on him in a bad, bad way, and bring their world crashing down.

Double Down Reviews:
loves me some desert noir 5 Star Review
2009-06-09 - rock n roll noir as jim thompson meets hunter thompson. includes sex, drugs, rock n roll, gambling, intrigue, violence and various and sundry other kinds of fun. A great mix of comedy and menace, Rossi manages the tone nicely and reminds us that no good deed ever goes unpunished. Especially in las vegas. If you are like me and dig books full of outlaws roaming in the southwestern night then check it out.

Pulp Fiction in the Desert Southwest 4 Star Review
2009-06-03 - I was lucky enough to read Double Down right when it was written. And even then I was asking for another story with the same characters. Rossi is a former newspaper reporter and it shows in his descriptive style and the way he holds a narrative together. He is also a musician which shows in the overall killer cool vibe. I really loved Double Down and if you are a fan of "caper" stories or just a well-told tale, you will likely be a fan as well All we can do is hope that Tarantino finds it and turns it into a killer flick.

Recommended 4 Star Review
2009-06-02 - This book is great for anyone who knows how to suspend humdrum reality and pay attention to the ticks that got this crew where they are. If your into cosmic banditos or fear and loathing, this book will agree with you.

Double Down is down right Awesome! 5 Star Review
2009-06-02 - Double down is a entertaining read including sex, drugs and rock and roll. Double down leaves you wanting more. I can't wait for the author to put out a sequel. The book leaves you wondering what happens to the main character. The book is suspenseful, erotic and dramatic. I recommend this book to those who can handle the racey nature of it! It kept my attention and in fact couldn't put it down. Great Job Joe Rossi!! Now where is the sequel?
