Description of World Gone Wrong:
With his songwriting muse on pause, Bob Dylan spent the mid-'90s recording old folk and blues standards with just himself, a harmonica, and an acoustic guitar. Good As I Been to You was the first effort. For the follow-up, World Gone Wrong, he went even further into the dark night of the soul. His voice aged by road-weary experience and informed by lifelong insight delivers just the right pathos to these tales of lost love and existential blight. Tom Paley, one of the original New Lost City Ramblers, popularized "Love Henry," a symbolic tale of a businessman who loses his soul traveling through the halls of corruption. Dylan delivers it as a funeral march and surrounds it with songs of similar sentiment. A modern acoustic blues classic. --Rob O'Connor
World Gone Wrong Reviews:
World gone wrong
2008-09-02 - Excellent! I especially liked that Bob Dylan wrote about the meanings behind the songs that he sang on this cd! wonderful! I love this cd!
"temporarily" out of stock
2008-05-28 - if it still says "temporarily out of stock" - don't buy it! i waited about 7 weeks and finally found a new/sealed copy on eBay for just over 8 bucks INCLUDING shipping! 5/28/08
fcuk me sideways!
2008-02-06 - I'm a HUGE Dylan fan, I love every piece of music he has produced. Though that statement is not a lie I won't lie... I do love some more than others. If you are like me and your true love for Dylan stems from his early career , then this album is for you and your collection. This album may not be noticed much in comparison to his other works, but this is a later work from him that just lets you know he's no where near to being done and throwing in the towel. As he has said himself "forever young" and he always reinvents himself to be young again. Bob Dylan WILL NEVER DIE, and for that I give thanks.
Amazing Guitar Playing
2007-11-24 - Dylan plays killer blues guitar, "Broke Down Engine", "Blood In My Eyes", soaring traditionals, "Two Soldiers" & "Delia", and more. His voice is perfectly controlled, every note appropriate to the lyric & arrangement. One of the most important blues albums ever recorded.
An Album Gone Right...in a World Gone Wrong
2007-09-13 - I'm speechless for once...this Dylan medley of bluesy pretty heartsung songs will melt you quicker than chocolate in the microwave.
I'm certain this will become a permanent fixture in my CD player...
Normally I fast forward a song if I'm not loving it after a few frames...not here, not a song I could live without!
Worth every dime. Money well spent! Mmmmm Bob.
