  • Editorial Review:
Bruce Willis stars as New York City Detective John McClane, newly arrived in Los Angeles to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia). As Mclane waits for his wife's office party to break up, terrorists take control of the building. While the terrorist leader, Hans Gruber (Alexander Godunov) round up hostages, McClane slips away unnoticed. Armed with only a service revolver and his cunning, McClane launches his own one-man war. A crackling thriller from beginning to end, Die Hard explodes with heart-stopping suspense.

    Description of Die Hard [Blu-ray]:
This seminal 1988 thriller made Bruce Willis a star and established a new template for action stories: "Terrorists take over a (blank), and a lone hero, unknown to the villains, is trapped with them." In Die Hard, those bad guys, led by the velvet-voiced Alan Rickman, assume control of a Los Angeles high-rise with Willis's visiting New York cop inside. The attraction of the film has as much to do with the sight of a barefoot mortal running around the guts of a modern office tower as it has to do with the plentiful fight sequences and the bond the hero establishes with an LA beat cop. Bonnie Bedelia plays Willis's wife, Hart Bochner is good as a brash hostage who tries negotiating his way to freedom, Alexander Godunov makes for a believable killer with lethal feet, and William Atherton is slimy as a busybody reporter. Exceptionally well directed by John McTiernan. --Tom Keogh

    Die Hard [Blu-ray] Reviews:
Not all terrorists are Muslims 5 Star Review
2009-11-30 - Remember a time when all terrorists were not Muslim? To make this film politically correct it would have to be remade with Middle East terrorists.

Nice transfer to Blu-Ray 5 Star Review
2009-11-23 - I've seen this movie now in the theater, VHS, DVD and now on blu-ray. I can say for sure that the Blu-Ray version is the best version around. Anyone that tries to say that this version wasn't encoded up to blu-ray standards and is basically the same quality as dvd is full of it. Sure there are some scenes that are blurry - they were blurry when the movie was filmed guys, blu-ray isn't going to clear that up. What it did do was really bring to life the rest of the movie that was shot in focus. There are a select few scenes where the color is off-balanced as well. The other 98% of the movie is done fantastically well. I for one am glad that i took the chance on it. Trust me, it's a clear upgrade on an HDTV from the DVD version.

die hard the first 5 Star Review
2009-10-31 - This is the first of the series with Bruce Willis. Great movie, lots of action, violence and language. Not for children.

best action movie ever made 5 Star Review
2009-09-07 - i watch this whenever its on cable, i dont care if i've seen it 100 times (i have) and my dad likes it a lot too.however i would suggest you cover your ears now and then because the language does get a little ROUGH if you know what i mean, but after you watch this one you will say "arnold who" because bruce wilson is just THAT good. if you haven't you should also check out die hard 3 and terminator as well. its a real treat. see you at the movies!

An Action Classic 5 Star Review
2009-09-03 - 'Die Hard' is a must see show for anyone who loves action movies.

Bruce Willis stars as New York police Officer John McClane. He and his wife, Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) are separated. She has taken a job transfer to Los Angeles. John travels to the West Coast to visit her and the kids for the holidays.

The trip starts off with an appearance at her company Christmas party. This international firm is targeted by European terrorists who seize the office during the party. Officer McClane is not present in the room when the seizure occurs. When he hears what is going on, he starts targeting the bad guys.

This is full of excitement from start to finish. Willis does a great job as the hero. Reginald Veljohnson is another great character as LA Police Sgt. Al Powell. Although Powell is not central to the heroics, he is a good addition to the plot helping to inject a little humor and human touch into the show.

This is really a superb show. If you have not seen it, you are long overdue.
