As its title makes clear, the 1991 sequel to Bonnie Raitt's platinum breakthrough on Nick Of Time takes nothing for granted. Raitt had achieved sobriety, renewed commercial focus, and then the payday that the prior album yielded, but Luck Of The Draw mirrors an even fiercer determination to make music as if her life depended on it. Again teamed with producer Don Was, Raitt surpasses herself with her best album to date: her wonderfully lush, blues-rimmed voice and sinuous slide guitar wrap themselves around a dozen potent songs culled from a typically shrewd mix of writers including Paul Brady, John Hiatt, Bonnie Hayes, Shirley Eikhard, and Billy Vera, and Raitt herself turns in her most generous batch of originals yet. Sympathetic guests include Brady and Delbert McClinton on harmony vocals, Richard Thompson on guitar, and Heartbreaker Benmont Tench on organ, in a program including the sassy "Something to Talk About," the sultry "Slow Ride," a soaring "Not the Only One," and the heartbreaking "I Can't Make You Love Me." Not the complete album. 
2009-12-02 - Why does your MP3 version only have nine tracks?? The original has 12, as does the one sold on iTunes. I'm not buying it unless I can get the complete album. Furthermore, you don't even list it as a partial album.

2009-05-17 - Deep. Deep. Deep. I was listening to Bonnie in the 1970's when she released her first album. I was blown away then, and still am. Bonnie, thank you for gracing our Planet Earth with your Heart. Slap on some killer high end headphones or CRANK up your stereo and LISTEN. Tight!! This is a very tight ensemble of musicians, music, lyrics and SOUL. Bonnie bleeds on this album. WOW. One reviewer said it - "why Bonnie has not made it as a mega star is beyond belief." Well, I would like to add - Thank goodness she isn't and maybe she is grateful she is not. For I believe a true musician plays for the love of playing and could care less about being a mega star. There are TONS of non-mega stars, that in my opinion, BLOW AWAY what main stream folks consider to be the cream of the crop. There out there playing from their hearts and loving it!! Hey, ain't that what its about anyway?? Groove on Bonnie and keep churning out your soul to share with us. You are loved and we are grateful!!

2009-03-23 - This one's outta' the park for Bonnie.She's hit a grandslam and the other team's in shambles. There's not a bad song on the entire Cd (which is odd because I generally don't like every song on anyone's album). Delbert McClinton lends his soulfull voice and John Hiatt wrote a song or two. Not bad players to have on your team, eh?
