Japanese pressing of the 2007 collaboration between rapper, Bow Wow and R&B singer Omarion featuring two bonus tracks: 'Lights, Camera, Action' and 'Let Me Hold You'. Face Off marks the culmination of a joint collaborative process dating back to 2005 when Omarion's vocal contributions to Bow Wow's 'Let Me Hold You' (from the album Wanted) peaked at #4 in the Billboard Hot 100. Since then, both artists have achieved great success and came together when the time was right. 14 tracks including the first single 'Girlfriend'. Columbia.

Two former child stars come into their manhood 
2008-03-05 - Omarion was the lead singer for the boy band B2K. Bow Wow was the hazel-eyed young protégé of producer Jermaine Dupri. They team up for the first time on a compilation entitled "Face Off." The album is very enjoyable. Their lyrics indicate that they are no longer the teenaged fellers we were introduced to several years ago. Relationships with women, sleeping with women, sleeping with women already in relationships and being cocky are among this album's subject matter. Also, these men verbalize their fair share of obscenities and sexual innuendos. Bow Wow outshines Omarion on most of the songs because his delivery is great. Bow has an undeniable energy in his vocal performances. Omarion holds his own, but I don't expect too much from him vocally because he has never amazed me with his vocals.
Most of the tunes found on this album are up-beat with decent production and lyrics that are good, but are probably more appealing to a younger audience. The album opens with a very energetic number called "Face Off." This is one of those numbers that amps you for a workout or a long day. Both guys do a great job with their performance and the end result is that this is one of the best tracks on this album. "Girlfriend" was released to radio, and though it took me awhile to get into this song, I now enjoy it. The beat is great and so is their delivery. "Hoodstar" and "Listen" also have good production. "Listen" interpolated strings with a hip-hop beat, which was different, but certainly a fresh idea. Bow Wow administers nice lyrics on this one. He's a very able lyricist, although his subject matter is way too narrow. There is more to talk/rap about that women, cars, and prestige. "Take Off Your Clothes" is a very raunchy track. It isn't difficult to imply what this song is about based on its title. The lyrics will make your jaw drop, but the beat will make your head bop.
I was impressed after the last song went off. These guys did a nice job with this LP. I recommend this one to young women and fans of Bow Wow/Omarion. For those folks, I'm pretty sure it won't disappoint.

2008-03-05 - Wow! Bow Wow and Omarion doing an album together. I like this CD. Its hot! I don't give a damn about what others say about it. This album harks back to the casual, lighthearted spirit of hip-hop's past. The album marks the culmination of a joint collaborative process dating back to 2005. This album has been certified GOLD!
Far from great
2008-01-28 - Face Off 3/5 - Rip off of the Jay-Z and R. Kelly song "Best of Both Worlds". Omarion also claims that this is his 6th album, but even if he counts his the 2 B2K releases it only adds up to 5 albums.
Hood Star 5/5 - First song leaked and also the best song on the album.
Girlfriend 5/5 - Good first single choice. If you didn't like it then you won't like the album.
Hey baby 3.5/5 - Second single and samples "Push It" by Salt N Pepa. Didn't like this song at all but grew on me since the video was released.
He Ain't Gotta Know 3.5/5 - Produced by T-Pain. The song is pretty much the entire gist of the whole album which I will explain later in the review.
Bachelor Pad 3/5 - I hope Timboland didn't charge too much for this sub-par beat.
Listen 5/5 - A very quality song. It's a tie for best song with Hood Star.
Can't Get Tired Of Me 3.5/5 - Song would be alot better if it was an Omarion solo over this smooth R&B beat.
Number Ones 3/5 - Excellent production but doesn't fit in with the rest of the songs. It's more of A Jay-Z or Kanye style beat. Plus the hook is awful.
Baby Girl 3/5 - Feel good song, some people will like it more than others.
Take Off Your Clothes 4/5 - Sexually explicit lyrics. Hot bridge by Omarion.
Another Girl 2/5 - Not a good closer. Probally most would agree it's the worst song.
Overall there isn't too much exciting material going on here. Bow Wow's lyrics are EXTREMELY repetive and claims that Face Off is "music at it's purest". In almost every song Bow Wow has a girl who already has a boyfriend. Bow Wow is better than him though because he is either "flyer, richer, and he drives an Astin Martin". Bow wow also claims to be a "young Ron Jeremy". Omarion definantly took a step back on this album. His first solo LP I consider a modern R&B classic. Face Off was sounds like it was rushed. There's a mentioning of Kanye West's song Good Life on "Baby Girl". That song was realeased only a couple months before Face Off was realeased. Anyways... Face Off sticks to the formula and will appeal mostly the young. Being 20 years old and a young guy myself, I am old enough to know there is alot of better Hip Hop out there to enjoy... but hot songs like Hood Star, Listen, and Girlfriend will be in rotation on my iPod.
