Editorial Review:
Already big stars courtesy of their debut, Cooleyhighharmony, the Boyz blasted off into superstar orbit on this CD. Of course those lush harmonies had a little something to wrap themselves around; namely the magnificent ballads "I'll Make Love to You"(which broke the chart record of the earlier "End of the Road" ) and "On Bended Knee." Corny? Si. Wholesome? And how. Obviously that didn't stop the biggest male vocal act of the '90s from crooning all the way to the bank, several million times over. --Amy Linden

2009-04-15 - What can be said that hasn't already been said about this Legendary Group??? MORE Platinium & Gold Singles...And a DOUBLE PLATINUIM Follow-Up Album to boot!!! Here's another quick read on the Billboard Charted Hit Singles from this album: "I'll Make Love To You" (#1, Platinum!), "On Bended Knee" (#1, Platinum!),
"Thank You" (#17), "Water Runs Dry" (#2, Gold!), and "Vibin'" (27), Understand this...By the time this Single was released the Album was over a year old! Once again...If you don't have this in your collection....IT'S NOT COMPLETE! Yeah!, there's a FEW who gave this some low stars, BUT LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO GAVE IT 5 (Five) STARS!!!....I don't think nothing else needs to be said.

The boyz became men 5 Star Review
2009-02-28 - CooleyHighHarmony is a classic album that has yet to be topped by any of these so-called R&B artists that are out now. Boyz II Men put Philly on the map as well as laid themselves a strong foundation in R&B with that album. There was only one way they could have went after Cooleyhighharmony: up. And they did with this superb sophomore release.

There are too many tracks that are vintage Boyz II Men tracks. Thank You, All Around The World, Vibin and U Know are excellent tracks the the Philly quartet. I'll Make Love To You and On Bended Knee were on Blender(cheap knockoff of Rolling Stone) and Vh1 as awesomely bad songs countdown but those love ballads are classics so the hell with Blender and VH1! These are the songs that these immature little freaks were conceived to and they have the nerve to trash it but never once do they mention any Eminem, D12 or any Shady records artists as well as Justin Timberlake. Are they trying to say that none of these artists make awesomely bad records? Really? I find that type of favoritism questionable. Plus forms of media like Vh1, Blender and GQ only appeal to idiotic trendies that think that saying "Meh" at the beginning of every sentence and defending movies that stink to high heaven makes them hip.

50 Candles, Water Runs Dry, Trying Times and Yesterday are more smooth R&B ballads that give this album a much needed boost. There are no bad songs on this album so I'll keep going on.

Bottom Line: Boyz II Men's II is the best sophomore album from an R&B quartet of all time. The ballads are exceptional and the fast songs aren't bad plus the group still has what most groups R&B groups now sorely lack: harmony. If you love 90s R&B in its purest form you cant go wrong with this sophomore effort by Boyz II Men.

Standouts: THANK YOU, ALL AROUND THE WORLD, U KNOW, VIBIN, TRYING TIMES, I'LL MAKE LOVE TO YOU, ON BENDED KNEE, WATER RUNS DRY and YESTERDAY.

Makes many top 100's in my book! 5 Star Review
2009-02-11 - As a crazed music fanatic, looking back I will have to say that I have given this album an astonishing number of spins. It sounds as fresh as the day it was released in '94. Each masterpiece on this album was pieced together so smoothly because of the fluctuating tempos. Not only is II the group's best album but I think its one of the greatest albums of the 1990's (if not the century) regardless of genre. This is an eye-opening statement considering the likes of Nevermind, The Chronic, and not many others. Aside from the fact that its been certified Diamond by RIAA, it strikes gold in the hearts of the romantic. It's not overly-mushy, anniversary music and it's not quite party-like R&B. Very mature, very classy, and a mainstay in my collection for years.

P.S.

Careful, this album may increase the size of your family.

We Need More Stars; Five is Not Enough 5 Star Review
2008-10-07 - I will never be able to sing enough praise for this splendid, heavenly, romantic, touching CD. These songs are absolutely superb. "On Bended Knee", "I'll Make Love to You", "Thank You", "Trying Times" "You Know", "All Around the World" are some examples of the wonderful and magnificent songs.

But the best song of all is "Fifty Candles". That song is so touching, splendid, and romantic, I can almost smell a rose-scented fragrant candle, and can almost hear raindrops beating against a window sill and birds chirping. I feel the song is so romantic and tender, I can almost sense a wedding in process! This song is perfect to listen to during a rainy or stormy evening, or while getting a massage or during a nice, long soak in the bathtub. I am highly sensitive; I notice certain things and sense things that the average person might not. But this CD is superb, even for someone who is not so sensitive.

This CD deserves more than five stars, just by itself. And I'd love it all the same even if it weren't for my best friend, Leah. Leah loved Boys II Men, and whenever I listen to this CD, it makes me think of her. She died three years ago; I'm just now getting over the rawness of it. Leah was the best friend I've ever had in my life (not counting family, kids, husband, etc.) And she's even better than this CD, and this CD is hard to beat.

Sophomore Superlative 5 Star Review
2008-06-20 - Of the 4 Boyz II Men CDs I have in my collection (Cooleyhigh, II, NMSW, and Full Circle) "II" is the most complete and is best representative of their immense talent. I think they really came into their own and hit their stride with this release. Every song on this CD is quality, but the high points are the ballads. Boyz II Men could work a ballad during their heyday. My favorite cuts on this CD are Jezzebel and 50 Candles. This should be in everyone's collection. Just luscious! 4.5 stars!
