  • Editorial Review:
Catch the explosive, action-packed hit that thrilled moviegoers and dazzled critics everywhere! Brandon Lee (RAPID FIRE) plays Eric Draven, a young rock guitarist who, along with his fiancee, is brutally killed by a ruthless gang of criminals. Exactly one year after his death, Eric returns -- watched over by a hypnotic crow -- to seek revenge, battling the evil crime lord and his band of urban thugs, who must answer for their crimes. Loaded with intense, nonstop action and a hot #1 hit soundtrack, THE CROW delivers exhilarating, fast-paced entertainment!

Description of The Crow (Miramax/Dimension Collector's Series):
The Crow set the standard for dark and violent comic-book movies (like Spawn or director Alex Proyas's superior follow-up, Dark City), but it will forever be remembered as the film during which star Brandon Lee (son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee) was accidentally killed on the set by a loaded gun. The filmmakers were able to digitally sample what they'd captured of Lee's performance and piece together enough footage to make the movie releasable. Indeed, it is probably more fascinating for that post-production story than for the tale on the screen. The Crow is appropriately cloaked in ominous expressionistic shadows, oozing urban dread and occult menace from every dank concrete crack, but it really adds up to a simple and perfunctory tale of ritual revenge. Guided by a portentous crow (standing in for Poe's raven), Lee plays a deceased rock musician who returns from the grave to systematically torture and kill the outlandishly violent gang of hoodlums who murdered him and his fiancée the year before. The film is worth watching for its compelling visuals and genuinely nightmarish, otherworldly ambience. --Jim Emerson

The Crow (Miramax/Dimension Collector's Series) Reviews:
    Hauntingly Beautiful 5 Star Review
2009-10-05 - First off this is my favorite move of all time. I LOVE this movie.i wont get into the plot much because you can read thta in any of the hundreds of reveiws but ill say it revolves around true love being forever, never dying and doing anything to set the wrong things right.this movie is even more haunting because it cost star Brandon Lee hi life to bring this movie to life.its based on a comic book of the same name which is also good and Brandon faught to get this movie made.he gives one of the best performances ive ever seen. period. this movie is everything romance, gothic horror, action it has something for everyone.go buy this movie, watch it and get lost in Brandon Lee's beautiful performance. Enjoy.

I have watched this movie soooooo many times! 5 Star Review
2009-09-28 - I have watched this movie over and over! Brandon Lee's performance was superb! He was VERY talented and did a great job with this movie. I couldn't believe it when he was killed on set! Some still call it "The Curse of the Lee's", as his father and grandfather died young.(30's)

A great cult classic! 4 Star Review
2009-09-19 - Of all of "The Crow" films made, the first was by far the best. It's a great cult classic and and it was fun to watch again after all these years!

One of the best graphic novels movie adaptations 5 Star Review
2009-09-09 - Great movie, that really keeps true to the original story. Brandon Lee is amazing and its unfortunate that he died during the filming of the movie.

Lee Shines In "The Crow" 4 Star Review
2009-08-09 - I'm a late comer to this flick. It flew under my radar despite it's fervent cult following. I'm glad I've finally seen it because it is terrific. My best analogy is it reminds me of "Blade Runner" crossed with John Woo but director Alex Proyas offers enough original fluorishes that the movie stands on it's own. The action is breakneck and there's a stunning goth look to the whole venture. The selling point is the presence of Brandon Lee who tragically died in an on set accident. Lee distinguishes himself from his father, Bruce Lee, and his work here suggests greater things if he had lived. Not classic stuff but better than average fantasy fare.
