Phobia Reviews:
Breaking Benjamin has sold themselves out 2 Star Review
2009-09-03 - Want some good music? Check out their earlier albums, We Are Not Alone and Saturate, because this is not the Breaking Benjamin I know and love. This is Breaking Benjamin gone emo after having sold themselves out. With the exceptions of The Diary of Jane, Until the End, and Broken Soul, this could be one of the most disappointing, as well as misleading, albums I have ever listened to. Breaking Benjamin went mainstream after the release of Sooner or Later in late 2004, and their fame has obviously taken it's toll. Breath was the big hit off this album... but, in my opinion, this song was just okay. The entire album gives me that impression. They've gone from the highest of high to... well, I'm not sure about the lowest of low, but pretty far down there.

Shame. They are following in the footsteps of Slipknot, Atreyu, Taproot, Staind, and possibly Seether and Trapt; were once owned by their passion of music, now they're owned by the record label.

It takes the "Breath" right out of me.. 5 Star Review
2009-07-13 - With Breaking Benjamin's fourth album and new single ("I Will Not Bow") on the horizon, I figured I'd finally get around to writing a review for their third album.

After listening to BB's second album, "We Are Not Alone" a few times, they quickly became one of my favorite bands. After listening to "Phobia", they established themselves as my FAVORITE band.

It's so impressive how the band has evolved over the years; each of their 3 albums has a unique sound to it, as Ben Burnley hones his vocal techniques to near perfection. "Phobia" sounds more like the 2nd album, "We Are Not Alone", than it does the first, "Saturate", but it still has a unique and captivating feel all it's own. The album is quite a bit heavier and darker than the other two, and the songs seem more dramatic.

The first single, "The Diary of Jane" is without a doubt the most infectious song I've ever heard and it's one of Breaking Benjamin's most unique songs to date; the perfect choice for the first single.

The only problem I had with the album at first was that some of the songs sounded the same (which isn't much of a problem given how great each song is), but upon further listening, each song (excluding the intros and outros) found its place in my head over and over and over again.

Here is my rating for each track:
The Diary of Jane 10/10
Breath 10/10
You 10/10
Evil Angel 10/10
Dance with the Devil 10/10
Unknown Soldier 10/10
Until the End 10/10
Topless 10/10
Here We Are 10/10
You Fight Me 10/10
Had Enough 10/10
The Diary of Jane (Acoustic) 10/10

"Unknown Soldier" is my favorite track off the album and my favorite Breaking Benjamin song ever. I love the helicopter sounds at the beginning and end of it, not to mention the soaring guitars and vocals.

Give this album a listen; it's well worth your time.
