  • Editorial Review:
All primitive screwheads, listen up! Cult superstar Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) reunites with director Sam Raimi (Drag Me to Hell, Spider-Man) to battle the deadly forces of evil in Army of Darkness - the outrageous, effects-fueled action epic that will make you scream with fear and laughter. Forced to lead a makeshift Dark Ages army against the demonic Deadites, who possess all the deadly magic of hell, the shotgun-toting, chainsaw-armed, reluctant 20th century time traveler Ash (Campbell) must save the living from the dead, rescue his medieval girlfriend and get back to his own time. One of the most popular horror comedies of all time, now digitally remastered and loaded with bonus features, Army of Darkness Screwhead Edition is drop-dead fun!

Yet Another Special Edition of Army of Darkness, With Less Extras 3 Star Review
2009-11-03 - Army of Darkness is the third and likely the final installment in the Evil Dead series. The plot is much more detailed than the other two and it actually fills in the countless holes left in the plot of Evil Dead 2. Who is Ash? Army of Darkness answers the question: he's a supermarket clerk from S-Mart's Housewares Division. Ash is played hilariously by square-jawed Bruce Campbell who gives a performance that seems like a combining of 2 characters: Duke Nukem and Moe Howard of the 3 Stooges. It has only one drawback: Sam Raimi could've atleast attempted to make this film even a little scary. That would've helped balance the humor alot better. But this is only a minor flaw. It's a definite must-see for fans of the genre. If Raimi ever finally produces a 4th installment, it wouldn't be wise to set it in the forest again.

This 'Screwhead Edition' has even less extras than the 'Boomstick Edition.' The bonus features include the trailer, the alternate ending, and a short documentary on the special effects. Maybe someday Universal will finally get it right and release the television version digitally remastered and uncensored to DVD as it is even better than the Director's Cut.

    wtf 2 Star Review
2009-09-29 - this has less extras than the boomstick edition, which has the director's cut in it

should include Director's Cut 3 Star Review
2009-09-17 - This is a review on the Blu Ray edition of this. 5 stars for the movie and the remastering, the picture looks alot better than all previous editions (which are many) 3 stars for the content. There are barely any extras, no audio commentary, deleted scenes and no directors cut (which is shameful since they can fit so much more content on blu ray discs. This edition is good enough until they release this yet again with the directors cut, whenever that may be.
