Editorial Review:
Circus is the seventh album by Britney Spears. It rolls into town on the heels of an MTV VMA awards sweep, where Britney walked away with three Moonmen awards for 'Video of the Year', 'Best Female' and 'Best Pop Video' for 'Piece Of Me'. Circus is the follow up to her critically well received album, Blackout, just in in time for her 27th birthday. The lead single, 'Womanizer' (produced by the up and coming Atlanta production team The Outsyders) has already created a frenzy amongst Britney fantaics, radio and the media alike-underscoring Britney's continued reign as one of the Queens of Pop.
Description of Circus:
Squint at the cover of Circus and it's easy to mistake Britney Spears for the flow-haired Jessica Simpson--an indication that the bold come-ons of 2007's Blackout, a commercial success but a critical letdown, may have given way to something softer and prettier. Don’t be fooled. Circus differs from Blackout in a number of ways, the most important being that 1) it keeps its ringmasters--i.e., its producers--in check instead of allowing them to run an overly sleek show, and 2) Brit brings it vocally here in a way she hasn’t since 2003’s In the Zone (check "Kill the Lights," on which she channels her mentor Madonna and the liquid-y "Blur"). Beyond that, Circus is, as its title promises, a Blackout-like spectacle. Which is not to say the songs being made under this particular big top aren't top quality. Those who pine for the pre-trainwreck Britney will warm to the suggestive but not outright slutty "Mmm Papi," and anyone who can't get enough of the embattled publicity magnet will eat up "Womanizer" and the title track. Spears--let's be honest--lacks acrobatic grace, at least under tabloid scrutiny. What's great about Circus is it proves she's still willing to jump through hoops to make likable, stylish music. --Tammy La Gorce
Circus Reviews:
Very fast shipping:)
2009-11-22 - I was surprised at how fast the CD arrived. My son was thrilled. Thanks so much.
Awesome
2009-11-19 - i actually was impressed dat britney spears was gonna be back, i thought she was not going to be as good as she used to be before.Since i was her fan since i was nine years old i decided to listen to her new work, so i decided to buy her "black out" cd, and "circu" to give it try and see if i liked it. And actually i was surprised to see how good her songs are they are really dansable and really groving, my favorite songs are womanizer, if you seek Amy, circus, 3, and radar, they are the best songs ever! so if you're wondering if you should buy her cd, trust me you are going to love it, your are not going to be disapointed, im so glad that i bought her cds they are so awesome:) in fact i'm going to listen to it right now!!!!
Welcome to the Circus
2009-11-11 - I think this album has some of the best songs that I have heard from Britney. I have never purchased any of her albums before this one. It is like others have said a very light hearted and uplifting album. As to some of those that are complaining about her voice being modified or made to sound better, you are all idiots to think that any artist goes into a studio, sings their songs and doesn't have them "fixed" to sound better. As to the person that stated "Gay boys and teenage girls will love this", you are also an idiot to stereotype like that. I happen to be a 26 year old wife and mom to three children. Neither a gay boy or a teenage girl and I give it a great review.
GREAT COMEBACK BRITNEY
2009-10-23 - this album was amazing for a comeback album. every song is truly at heart with britney. her song out from under, circus,my baby, womanizer and if u seek amy are my favorite. GLAD UR BACK BRITNEY<3
britney comes back into the spotlight...
2009-10-22 - after a disastrous year, britney comes out on top with circus. she starts to become her normal self again. with this album, there are more ballads while blackout was filled with fun dance theme music. circus is a good album but it kinda falls short with blackout.
1) Womanizer-[pretty catchy single. "womanizer..womanzier...oh you're womanizer...you you you are...womanizer...womanizer...boy don't try to front, i know just as what you are". 5/5
2) Circus- it's a fun song to dance to. 5/5
3) Out From Under-a great ballad on the album where britney actually sounds good. i could actually feel the sadness in this song. 5/5
4) Kill The Lights-i got uncomfortable when they declared her the legendary "Queen Of Pop". i still feel that title belongs to Madonna but i like this song. 5/5
5) Shattered Glass- good song...all i can say. 4/5
6) If U Seek Amy- average song with average beats. 3/5
7) Unusual You-this is really nice, i really like the beats. 5/5
8) Blur- another average song....i like the beats. 3/5
9) Mmm Papi- i'm not gonna lie...at first i didn't like this song at all. after listening to it the second time, it grew on me. the song is pretty cute. i really like the retro 60s sound in the background. 4/5
10) Mannequin- this is my most favorite song on the album. it's so addicting but i don't like the weird voice in the background tho. 5/5
11) Lace And Leather- this song has prince written all over it. 5/5
12) My Baby-not really my favorite and i consider this a filler. 1/5
13) Radar-this song came from Blackout. it's a cool song with 80s beats. 5/5
