Editorial Review:
Jive Recording artist Britney Spears is set to release her 4th album, In The Zone on November 18. The first single "Me Against The Music" features Madonna. Britney Spears co-wrote 7 of the 13 songs on the album. Some of the producers/writers on the album include Moby ("Early Mornin'"), Bloodshy & Avant ("Showdown"), Guy Sigsworth ("Everytime") and R. Kelly ("Outrageous").

Description of In The Zone:
However coy she might be in her public statements, Britney Spears leans more than a bit toward the provocative on In the Zone. Less concerned with aiming at the mainstream radio dial than in the first days of her career, she and her collaborators make this as street and club ready a record as possible. The opening duet with Madonna, "Me Against the Music," is worthy, but the bigger superstar’s presence serves almost less as a performance than a key to Britney’s intentions: as Madonna did on albums such as Erotica , Ray of Light, and Music, she’s out to bend current trends to her needs. R. Kelly, Moby, and Ying Yang Twins all provide stirring moments that draw on everything from Bollywood to Southern hip-hop, while one of the most impressive tracks, "Touch of My Hand," joins the proud tradition of Cyndi Lauper’s "She Bop." She still lacks a fully formed artistic vision of her own, but Zone, with its many get-free anthems, puts her much closer. --Rickey Wright

In The Zone Reviews:
My Fave 5 Star Review
2008-05-18 - I love Britney and everything she has done. This CD is my favorite! This and her new one Blackout. She has an excellent voice and both this CD, Blackout and her Greatest hits albums have so much variety in the music. They are all on my mp3 player for school and workouts. They are very upbeat compared to her earlier work. Every song makes you want to dance... or if you cant dance (like me), it makes me work out harder... LOVE IT!!!

Not Her Best, But Some Really Good Moments 3 Star Review
2008-04-30 - Giving you a brief rundown of where I stand, I think "Baby One More Time" had its moments. I feel the same way about "Oops...I Did It Again." I thought "Britney" was an EXCELLENT record with only 2 weak spots. After her really great 3rd record, I was hoping this 4th one would be just as good or better. Well, sadly it wasn't. (At least I didn't think so.) However, that is not to say it didn't have some really great moments. 'Showdown' is certainly a song that has a catchy tone. 'Breathe On Me' is also different, but interesting. 'Toxic' is certainly a great song that takes an aspect of the human condition an reveals it for what it can be. (Passion is seldom based on reason, and in a sense can be toxic. Zeus' daughter Athena, the goddess of wisdom, remained a virgin so her sense of intellect and reason would not be clouded by passion. 'Outrageous' has a nice energy to it. 'Shadow' is a great song, and a strong contender for the best one on the record. So, while my favorite remains her excellent 3rd record, this 4th record by Ms. Spears certainly has some great moments.

I love Britney and I'm proud 5 Star Review
2008-03-28 - I like the weirdest artists, but most often I like people who, regardless of ability or whatever, transcend themselves to make a good pop song. And that means Billie Holiday (who made bad songs into good ones) and glam rockers and whatever. And Britney holds her own, I think. You'll see.

Don't Read This Review 4 Star Review
2008-01-05 - "In the Zone" is Britney Spears at her absolute finest and without a doubt, toxic is the greatest single ever to grace the airwaves. No one is too cool, too old, too hot, too young, too smart, too dumb, too skanky, too prudish, too gullible, or too lame to listen to this mainstream masterpiece. People who give one-star reviews and say turn off the radio and listen to "good music" are pretentious fools who want to inflict their cynical beliefs onto everyone else because they are depressed from listening to Elliot Smith and Wilco. I'm In the Zone - Are you?

Her best album yet 4 Star Review
2007-11-02 - In the Zone is Brit's best album to date. It's not as poppish as her previous three albums. With this album Britney takes some chances. She experiments with different sounds and she shows tremendous growth as an artist. Tracks like "Breathe On Me" and "Early Mornin" are very chill, laid back songs that you can just relax to, while "Outrageous" and "The Hook Up" are raggae dance numbers that are sure to get you on your feet. Brit experiments with techno on the infamous "Toxic". "Everytime" and "Shadow" are beautiful ballads where Britney really showcases her voice. Brit's lyrics have also matured. This is evident in the controversial track "Touch of my Hand". This is such a fantastic album. It really shows how much our teeny bopper Brit has matured musically AND lyrically. The only reason I'm giving this album 4 stars and not 5 is because I would've liked the album to be a few tracks longer and they could've done without a remix of "Me Against the Music" (which is one of the weaker tracks on the album). Anyhow, this is a great record. Even those non-Britney fans will enjoy several tracks. Highly recommended.
