Editorial Review:
Import exclusive edition of Britney's second album includes three previously unreleased bonus tracks NOT on the U.S. edition, 'Girl In The Mirror', 'You Got It All' & 'Heart'. 15 tracks total, also featuring the hit title song 'Oops!... I Did It Again' and a cover of the Rolling Stones classic '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction'. Jive.
Description of Oops!... I Did It Again:
Yes, she did. Even if the title track's chorus is a blatant rip-off of the Barbra Streisand/Barry Gibb duet, "Woman in Love," it's still darn catchy--much more than anything from 1999's ...Baby One More Time (save the album's fab title tune, of course). With the rest of the 12 songs here, the teen queen pretty much delivers a remake of her last album. Songs like "What U See (Is What U Get)" and "Stronger" show Swedish songwriter-producer Max Martin in his element, churning out another and yet another slick smash with staccato synth beats and heavily overproduced melodies. But even at his strongest points, he can't bury Britney's voice far enough below the virtual guitars--and it's obvious this girl ain't no Celine. Except for the horrendous ballads, however, that doesn't make a stitch of a difference. The pop songs have all the qualities of memorable tunes--the choruses are clear and catchy, the beats are bouncy enough to make you shake your bonbon, and the singer is about as randy for love as Austin Powers is for a shag. Edit out the low-water mark--when Britney mutilates the Rolling Stones' misogynist anthem, "Satisfaction," by oversexualizing it with inserted "uh"s ("I can't get no, uh, satisfaction")--and you've got a hit-packed album that's as guilty a pleasure as reruns of Beverly Hills 90210. --Heidi Sherman
Oops!... I Did It Again Reviews:
Britney!!
2009-10-23 - this album is like the best thing ive had in a long time. i love britney to death, would literally die for her!! i own all her cds. circus and oops i did it again are the best. good job Britney
better than her first album
2009-08-25 - ok, i got this album when i was only 12. i really like the album cover as well. those were the days when i had really like britney alot as a person. i remember listening to this more often....but these days not so much. the songs on this album are a lil bit better than her first. her first was bubble gum pop as it's best even though this album was like that too. talking about this album does give me good memories of 2000 when britney was at her peak. 2000 had a alot of catchy, memorable songs....Bye Bye Bye, the Real Slim Shady, etc.
1. Oops!...I Did It Again!- o god, i remember this song, this song was HUGE and it was everywhere... it was soo overplayed that it times it can be annoying. it was annoying as NYSYNC's "bye bye bye", another huge song. 4/5
2. Stronger-yea, i used to love this song. the video was pretty cool too. 4/5
3. Don't Go Knockin' On My Door-this song is one of my favs on this album. pretty cool song to sing along to. 5/5
4. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction-i like this cover alot. 5/5
5. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know-have to be the most underrated singles she released. the song is really beautiful and soothing. 5/5
6. What U See (Is What U Get)-i like this song too. it's pretty sassy. i would listen to this song alot as well. 5/5
7. Lucky-this song was pretty popular as well. i remember enjoying this song. i really enjoyed the video as well. i think that this is the video where she looked her best. she had a really great smile. she kinda looked like marilyn monroe in that video. 5/5
8. One Kiss From You-an okay song. 3/5
9. Where Are You Now-a pretty nice, decent song to listen to. 5/5
10. Can't Make You Love Me- pretty sure that every girl can relate to this song, i know i have. i used to listen to this song alot. 5/5
11. When Your Eyes Say It- this song is my fav. it's really intimate and romantic. 5/5
12. Dear Diary-the lyrics is kinda cheesy and junior highish...but the melody is really sweet and adorable to listen to. 3/5
Great Music!
2009-05-28 - This is simply great music! Worth every penny and I can easily download it onto my ipod. Plus buying the cd is actually less expensive than downloading it from iTunes.
Here we UP go again
2009-03-24 - The featured review of this CD from 2001 states, 'History has shown us that these "artists" dry up as quickly as they came. Menudo, New Kids on the Block, Wham!, etc. These bands have a life expectancy of about 4 years, absolute max.' Well, here it's 2009, number 1 album + single 10 years on, as hot as the Beatles for even longer. We always hear 'she can't sing,' 'she can't write,' and 'it's all the producer.' If that's the case why don't the record labels simply sign up a few hundred blondes with big kablooies and simply get the same puppetmasters to crank out more of the same? Get a 100 number 1 albums simultaneously since it's so effortless. Er, duh. Love me, hate me, say what you want about me. Original. Diabolical. High maintenance ~ and worth it. Well, actually, sometimes I mean red.
The finest female vocalist on the planet!
2008-11-08 - Who needs manufactured chick singers like Nico, Patti Smith or PJ Harvey when you have a REAL singer like Ms.Spears? It's obvious that the first three I mentioned have been using computers to enhance their voices, while Britney has raw talent! She can belt out a tune like no other with true grit. You really feel like she's singing just for you. 5 stars, bravo, Ms.Spears! You've outdone yourself.
