Cameron Diaz Toni Collette and Shirley MacLaine all deserve Oscars® (WCBC-TV) for their hilarious and moving performances in the most rewarding family comedy since Terms of Endearment. (New York Magazine)Flirty flaky party girl Maggie (Diaz) and plain dependable lawyer Rose (Collette) are sisters best friends and bitter rivals who seem to have only two things in common: DNA and size 8 feet. Only when their love-hate relationship veers towards the hate end of the spectrum do they accidentally discover they also share a long-lost grandmother (MacLaine) who enriches their lives and helps them make peace with each other and themselves!System Requirements:Running Time 130 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: PG-13 UPC: 024543223818 Manufacturer No: 2232381

Description of In Her Shoes (Widescreen Edition):
In Her Shoes just gets better and better as it goes along. As adapted by Erin Brockovich screenwriter Susannah Grant, this is one of those rare movies that actually improves on its source material (Jennifer Weiner's "chick lit" bestseller), with thoughtful direction by Curtis Hanson, the L.A. Confidential Oscar®-winner who approaches any chosen genre with Hawksian versatility. At first it seems like Weiner's novel might yield a standard melodrama of sibling rivalry, but the polar opposition of smart, plain-looking Philadelphia lawyer Rose (the always-excellent Toni Collette) and her sexy, illiterate, irresponsible sister Maggie (Cameron Diaz) is just the starting point. In Her Shoes becomes a moving, richly developed character study that deals with painful loss, long-term guilt, negative self-image, and the discovery of a heretofore unknown grandmother named Ella (played with delicate nuance by Shirley MacLaine), whose re-entry into the sisters' lives sets the stage for the well-earned emotions of a satisfying reconciliation. As Maggie takes stock of her dismal life while staying with Ella at a Florida "retirement home for active seniors," Hanson never condescends to these likable characters, and never goes for the easy laughs in a setting that could have devolved into Cocoon-like comedy. The movie's all the more endearing for treating its male characters (played by Mark Feuerstein, Ken Howard, and Richard Burgi) with equal depth and sympathy, further enhancing a classy tearjerker that viewers of both genders can thoroughly enjoy. --Jeff Shannon

In Her Shoes (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
I carry this poem in my soul now... 5 Star Review
2008-05-13 - For me, not a chik flik, but a film about dysfunctional family relationships, skeletons in the closet, that, as life seems to always have it, must come out for all to get well. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, enjoyed the oppositional forces of the two sisters yet who love each other through and through, and are a great part of each other's soul. Enjoyed all the characters, kudos to the actors' portrayals, and the poem which when recited aloud, ohhh, you just want to hear it again. Bravo to all who participated in this film.

Chick Flick For Guys 5 Star Review
2008-05-09 - This is a full-blown one-hankie chick flick, but I still enjoyed it. Cameron Diaz looks impossibly hot. The old folks are real residents of a real Florida place where this movie was shot. Shirley Maclaine has been playing this role for the last 25 years, and she's got it down. Good script. Decent plot line. Nice soundtrack. Not a bad waste of two hours.

Beautiful, romantic story 5 Star Review
2008-05-04 - This is a must for any fan of Cameron Diaz, and it's a sister-bonding romantic story that is so well cast~ starring Shirley Maclaine as the womens' long-lost grandmother. And the fabulous Toni Collette will just tug at your heart strings. The best part of the film for me is the E.E.Cummings love poem at the end! Highly recommended for all ages. Just a little bad language and sex. The penultimate chick flick!

Very cute movie... 5 Star Review
2008-05-02 - This movie made a great birthday present for my sister.
It is a family movie for sure. Great cast that work well together.
It is a keeper for anyone's collection.

Shoes never make you look fat 4 Star Review
2008-04-06 - This is a great movie to watch when you are home alone or angry at your boyfriend. Its a great story about two sisters that are complete opposites and the challenges they face in life. Cameron Diaz is the hot ditzy sister and the brunette is the smart professional with a slight shoe fetish...
