On Your Own Reviews: The real "Last American Virgin" holds forth 2005-08-18 - Brooke Shields and I are the same age. I read this book when it came out, when Brooke and I were both twenty, but unlike Brooke, I was not studying at Princeton. I was graduating from a secretarial school and getting my first job. Therefore, a lot of the advice about the horrors of dorm life went right over my working-class head.
She does have some good things to say and some good advice to give. It's just that the idea of a twenty-year-old gracing us with the wisdom of her accumulated years is a bit of a scream.
Delightful! 1999-08-18 - This is one of the funniest books I've ever read. With such catchy phrases as 'Worry is the sleep thief" and "I'd rather be overweight than smoke", who wouldn't want to read this? Actually, it made Brooke Shields look almost like a down to earth person while at the same time reminding us that one should never re-wear any of those styles from the 80's. I wonder if Brooke still uses the same beauty rituals now as she did then-
