Description of Christy - A New Beginning:
Christy (Lauren Lee Smith) and the rest of the Cutter Gap community are just beginning to recover from a typhoid epidemic when a storm hits the rural alcove. In A New Beginning, the second of a two-part PAX production that began with A Change of Seasons, she gets stranded in the forest with Dr. MacNeill (Stewart Finlay-McLennan), and her fiancé David (James Waterston) risks life and limb to rescue her. Despite a loss of property, the town makes it through the storm relatively intact, but many have been changed by the experience. Christy, for instance, has come to see Dr. MacNeill in a new light, thus questioning her engagement to David. Will she marry the preacher or break off the engagement? Marriage is on the minds of several characters in this engaging recollection by the elderly Christy about her experiences as a young schoolteacher in the Smoky Mountains. can't compare to the original tv series 
2009-11-18 - I too enjoyed the tv series "Christy" and was very disappointed with these movies. I know Kellie Martin said she didn't take the role because when she finishes a role, "she moves on", but I find that selfish and truly wished all the original cast had finished what they started for us "Christy" fans. Although the actors tried their best to follow along with the personality of their character, it still couldn't compare to the original roles. I also felt the new movies were not in keeping with the reality of the setting in the original series. The people looked too clean to be from cutter gap and many of the children sported haircuts you would see today. The cabins changed dramatically from the older series to the new movies. Too much change. The only reason I would get this movie would be to put closure on the series. I felt it took too much work on my part to "overlook" the new actors and settings just to get through the movie.
Love the Christy movies!! 
2009-09-29 - I like that this movie picked up and finished what the TV series did not finish!! Some of the actors were different but I stilled liked that I could put some closure on this story!!
NOT Christy 
2009-05-10 - For fans of the original Christy series, this is NOT the ending. The movie is TOTALLY wrong. First of all, the main characters are completely different actors(except for the doctor) and they don't do a good job of their parts. The setting is all wrong too, it's so obviously not the real mission house and school. The story is wrong as well. The series left it open as to who Christy marries(we know that the original "Christy", Catherine Marshall's mother, married a preacher). This movie, though, has her marry the doctor. That spoiled everything! Plus, the acting is cheap. The beautiful scenery and music, the quality acting, the genuineness of all the people of Cutter Gap is missing. If you are a fan of the original Christy series, STAY AWAY FROM THIS!

2009-03-30 - The movie is wonderful, although I had to return for an exchange because the movie was defective. I haven't watched the new one yet. I hope it's ok.
Christy - Hours of charm and spirit
2009-03-22 - "Christy" is a movie series that a family can cuddle up with for hours. My husband and I watched it for many nights in a row watching all 19 episodes. Christy is strong minded and has a vision of a world she is ready to work to see. I love her.
