  • Editorial Review:
The lovably ugly green ogre returns with his green bride and furry, hooved friend in Shrek 2. The newlywed Shrek and Princess Fiona are invited to Fiona's former kingdom, Far Far Away, to have the marriage blessed by Fiona's parents--which Shrek thinks is a bad, bad idea, and he's proved right: The parents are horrified by their daughter's transformation into an ogress, a fairy godmother wants her son Prince Charming to win Fiona, and a feline assassin is hired to get Shrek out of the way. The computer animation is more detailed than ever, but it's the acting that make the comedy work--in addition to the return of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz, Shrek 2 features the flexible voices of Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins), John Cleese (Monty Python's Flying Circus), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), and Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) as the gleefully wicked fairy godmother. --Bret Fetzer

    Shrek 2 (Widescreen Edition) Reviews:
Even better than the original. 5 Star Review
2008-06-25 - Shrek 2 takes what was great about the original and turns it way up.
The action, the humor, the story is way better than the first one.
    The animation is even better.
The story is cute and heartfelt without being corny.
Another winner in the Shrek series.
    Highly recommended.

This sequel isn't sweet. 2 Star Review
2008-06-23 - Shrek 2 was such a disappointment. I loved Shrek and waited anxiously to see the sequel but I just couldn't get into this one at all. It's pretty slow and choppy, the plot this time around is pretty lame. I am sure Shrek the Third is dumb as well, keep away from this stinker!

Absolutely, 100% Hilarious! 5 Star Review
2008-06-22 - I'm usually not a big fan of crude animated films like the "Shrek" trilogy. But I was caught by the originality of the plot, and when I first saw this film, I was laughing so hard I cried. It might be one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.
But what makes this film funny aren't the usual crude bathroom jokes. The inventiveness of all the spoofs, wittiness, and sly winks to other movies and pop culture icons are truly laugh-out-loud funny.
The kingdom of Far-Far-Away is a glimmering Hollywood, containing sucessful enterprises like "Far-bucks Coffee". Characters gripe about Miranda Rights, and a scene where "cop" knights chase Shrek resembles the OJ car chase. Larry King (of all people) does a voice over for a (cross-dressing?) ugly step-sister. The acting voiceovers are absolutely fabulous, with new additions to the cast including Julie Andrews, John Cleese, Jennifers Saunders (who's brilliant!) and Antonio Banderas.
Unfortunately, the third film returns to the un-funny crude humor of the first, but this film is absolutely a delight.

I guess some things must stop in order to retain value and significance... 4 Star Review
2008-06-19 - All things considered, this is very nice, inventive, cool and by all means terrific movie! But every idea has its limits. Less you say... more it leaves to imagination. I only hope this will not become another bitten to the death sequel...

Your House MUST own Shrek! 5 Star Review
2008-06-18 - Shrek 2 is the perfect sequel to an ongoing [hopefully] series of Shrek movies. It is great for Adults and Children! I buy each one to keep them, while adding to my collection. If you haven't purchased your Shrek movies you better get started today! You will be so glad you did...

Shrek is hilarious for adults too!
