Description of The Land Before Time XI - The Invasion of the Tinysauruses:
The small-fry dinosaur friends are back for their ninth outing in this 77-minute movie, but this time they're not the littlest creatures in the Great Valley. A herd of miniature dinos is discovered when Little Foot tries to sneak some "tree sweets," but falls into the tree instead, knocking down all the blossoms. This gives the tiny herd easy access to the food, which they quickly devour and disappear. But instead of taking the blame, Little Foot inadvertently sends the prehistoric adults into a "get Frankenstein" kind of frenzy by blaming the little ones entirely for the loss of the harvest. The kids find the herd first, of course, and protect it from the adults until everyone settles down and accepts each other's differences. A subplot spotlights Cera and her adjustment to Dad dating Tria, a lady Triceratops friend from Dad's past come back to reignite old passions. (Ages 3 to 7)--Kimberly Heinrichs

Trash in, Trash out
2008-10-11 - What were the creators thinking? This is the first of the Land Before Time series we have viewed and frankly I am appalled by it's lack of respect and do not intend to pursue any more of the series. Thank goodness we went to the library first before purchasing it. Even the legitimate moral concern about Little Foot's lying is overshadowed by incompetent parenting by all the adults - from the vicious and disrespectful Topsy to Little Foot's grandfather who is hardly capable of wiping his nose let alone taming an angry adult mob or presenting any sense of positive adult leadership. What you don't know about the movie before you watch it is that the lying storyline isn't the only dominant one. There's also a very dominant storyline of Cera struggling as she watches her father date and perhaps getting a "new mommy". If I had known about that storyline, I would have PASSED entirely as "Daddy dating" wasn't something I really wanted to bring up with my 4 year old. The songs about Dad's is as unbelievable as it gets. Did a creator have some issue with her father that had to be played out for the rest of our youth? Unless you want your daughter to start saying "Dad, give it a rest" (an actual quote from one of the songs in the movie) when asked to obey her father, I would highly recommend you pass on this one.
