Vile Reviews:
New Vocalist - No Sale 3 Star Review
2009-11-03 - I have been a fan of Cannibal Corpse since the beginning and that includes a fan of Chris Barnes. I was open to give George a chance. I have listened to every album Cannibal released, but George's vocals ruin it for me every time. Some say George is more proficient and has more range, but in my opinion Chris had the character and the lyrics - heck he is the one responsible for taking the bands direction with horror/gore and gave it life. George does not write lyrics or even the approach on any album.
I understand that Chris and Cannibal were already parting ways as this album was being recorded (Chris was on the road with Six Feet Under) but the new guy just doesn't do it for me. For myself, I think that Chris's vocals contributed more to the sound of Cannibal than the band will admit. As a band progresses and becomes "better" doesn't always lead to "better" albums. Cannibal has become more technical over the years, they still produce some great songs, but nothing that I am interested in buying and listening to on a regular basis. If they had a different vocalist I might fork out the bucks - but George is really one of my least favorite vocalists - He is to predictable and I am sure that is because he doesn't write lyrics or have a say in the vocal phrasing etc.

There's a reason it's called Vile 1 Star Review
2009-08-21 - This review will sort of sum up my thoughts on both Vile, Gallery of Suicide, Bloodthirst and Gore Obsessed, because most of them suffer from the same problem - repetitiveness. I feel that Vile is probably their weakest album to date, even with Corpsegrinder stepping in to take over for Chris Barnes. Sure, he did a solid job on vocals, and yes, the band are still technically proficient, but they just kept hammering out album after album without much thought or inspiration. The only part of this album that might make you snicker is the song title "Orgasm Through Torture", which I'll admit is a little disturbing.

Out of these four, I'd definitely recommend checking out Gallery of Suicide. While it's not a fantastic album, it's the best of the worst, making it somewhat decent. Vile, Bloodthirst and Gore Obsessed were uninspired compared to what was to follow, I'd rate them all 1.5 out of 5 at the very most. Gallery of Suicide is probably a 2.5 - it was also arguably the album where they reached their current (much recognizable) "sound".

This isn't Death Metal. 1 Star Review
2009-03-10 - This is a bunch of tards with instruments. When I think Death Metal, I think good bands like In Flames, Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, and early Sepultura. NOT garbage like Cannibal Corpse.

These guys are completely untalented. I doubt the guitarist(s) actually learned how to play guitar, they just decided to attack the strings randomly. And also, the singer sounds like a dog choking on something. As for the drums, I'm sure the drummer just decided to attack a bunch of drums randomly and double pedal rapidly. And the lyrics are just stupid over-the-top gore lyrics. Just reading them, I imagine a conversation going down like this:

"Oh, I'm uncreative. What should I do?
"I HAVE AN IDEA!!!! Write a bunch of lyrics about necrophilia, blood, gore, murdering, and a bunch of other disgusting random things!"

No, seriously. They really are that stupid. Here's an example:

"Crawling rodents gorging on me
Repulsive starving droves
Shredding, stripping, consuming all I was
Tissue pulled from bones
Dying slowly, feeling every fang
Shock has yet to come
Scavengers tear out my eyes
My pain won't end, I have not died"

Brilliant! That doesn't even make sense! "Gorging on me"??? LOL!!!!!!
Not stupid enough? Here's another brilliant one:

"Severing, parts and veins in the way
My insides are on the outside of me
My bones now shatter and explode
The pain, its destination my brain
Can't hide from beign eaten from inside"

Um, Shatter and Explode? Wrong order, idiot.

I'll write my own CC song now!!!!

Blood, Blood is all I see
splashing down on my pancreas
My intestines falling out
And my kidneys left to dry

Brains splatter all over my body
Blood follows
I feast and drink
On rotten insides

Tonight we shall kill
and rip out the intestines
And glorify infaticide

There, I wrote my own CC song!!!!!

Point is, this band just plain sucks. Want good death metal? Listen to In Flames or Dimmu Borgir. Stay away from this garbage at all cost.

One of their best 5 Star Review
2008-09-03 - Excellent & powerful death metal by a terrific band. Put this on to revive you in the afternoon - works better than 3 shots of expresso.

Goodbye Chris......Hello "Corpsegrinder" 5 Star Review
2008-08-26 - Cannibal Corpse is:

Paul Mazurkiewicz- Drums

7. Relentless Beating
8. Absolute Hatred
9. Eaten From Inside
10. Orgasm Through Torture
11. Monolith

"Vile" is Cannibal Corpse's most underrated album in their discography but I see it as one of their best CDs featuring Chris Barnes' replacement vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher. I actually have a bootleg demo of the "Created To Kill" sessions and when I compare it to "Vile" I notice that Chris Barnes' vocals seems out of place in the songs and doesnt really sound good. George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher is obviously a better vocalist for Cannibal Corpses Latter albums and he can sing a lot faster than Barnes could allowing the band to take it up another level on this album. "Vile" is simply amazing, this album is my second all-time favorite Cannibal Corpse record and I can't get enough of it. Both Jack Owen and Rob Barrett really improved on their guitar skills and it really shows on songs like "Disfigured", "Relentless Beating", and "Devoured By Vermin". One thing that blew my mind was Jack Owen's guitar solos on the tracks "Puncture Wound Massacre" and "Eaten from Inside", I never knew you can get such a high-pitch sound out of a guitar. This is a must have for any Corpse fan.

Warning: This album is not for those who can't stomach lyrics about blood, gore, and torture.

Buy this album...it's worth every penny.
