  • Editorial Review:
A CONNIVING CIRCUS OWNER AND CON-MAN STUMBLES UPON A REAL, LIVE MERMAID. IN THIS QUEST FOR ABUNDANT RICHES AND POPULARITY, HE SECRETLY STEALS THE SEA-CREATURE AND HEADS OFF BY BOAT TO AMERICA WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND LILI AND A SMALL CREW. THE CON MANAND AND HIS CREW REALIZE THEY HAVE NO DOCILE CREATURE.

    Description of She Creature:
This surprisingly satisfying horror movie centers on a mermaid--but it's hardly one of the giggly types from Peter Pan. Rufus Sewell and Carla Gugino play a couple of small-time circus people who discover that an eccentric old man keeps a genuine mermaid in a water-filled tank. Dreaming of an invitation from Ringling Bros., Sewell steals the mermaid and loads her on a ship for America. But in the middle of the Atlantic, the hungry mermaid shows her darker side--and Gugino learns that she may be linked to the mermaid in unexpected ways. She Creature was no doubt made on a low budget, but it looks excellent and the above-average script gives the strong cast firm ground to stand on. The mermaid herself (Rya Kihlsted) is both lovely and eerie. All in all, an enjoyable homage to classic horror films. --Bret Fetzer

    She Creature Reviews:
    GOOD ENJOYMENT 4 Star Review
2009-09-12 - THIS MOVIE WAS NOT A RECENT MOVIE BUT IT WAS STILL ENJOYABLE, I LIKED THE STORY LINE.

GREAT horror flick 5 Star Review
2009-01-10 - This is a remake of one of the cheesiest 1950's horror movies I've ever seen. A hypnotist has control of the she creature who rampages all over the beach front tearing up property and people willy-nilly. I fully expected the new She Creature to be of the same quality but in color. I was stunned at the new movie. The story is terrific and actually makes sense most of the time. The actors are excellent and their fear is palpable as they begin to realize that the mermaid is killing them off at will. Carla Gugino is really excellent as the female protagonist who bonds with the monster. I own this film so I can have access to it whenever I want to see it yet I usually only watch it when I find it on cable unexpectedly because it sems like a real treat. I highly recommend this is you like very scary movies.

    SHE's A MAAAN ~ EaTING MERMAID! 3 Star Review
2008-07-26 - I'd just come home one day and flipped on the Tv remote switch and tuned in to SCI-FI channel and 'She Creature' was on.

I was smack right in the middle of the movie scene without even knowing what the beginning of the story was about. The funny thing about this film is, it was just too predictable. I didn't even have to know that Miss She-Creature was suppost to be evil, because I already knew that she was evil without knowing that she was.

I really enjoyed the mood of the setting, since I have thing for water and wanting to be near the beaches. However, I thought the ending of the film was - SUPER D-U-M-B. I personally think this film could've had better production, but it was almost like watching a B-rated film that held some really good shooting scenes with a professional camera crew, but with a story lacking some depth.

Really beautiful movie 5 Star Review
2008-07-25 - May seem like an odd title for a review for this type of movie but I found the film to be beautiful due to the cinematography and sets. Likely would have received some sort of award if it was about a different subject. I love the attention to detail of the boat, contrast in lighting to create suspense, use of the beauty of the mermaid to create terror. Very well done. Highly recommend it.

    SHE CREATURE 5 Star Review
2008-07-12 - SHE CREATURE BY FAR IS THE BEST MERMAID MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN TO DATE. OF COURSE THIS IS NOT A MOVIE FOR CHILDREN OR EVEN TEENAGERS, IT HAS A NUDE MERMAID SWIMMING AROUND IN A LARGE TANK, AND SHE HAS VERY LUSCIOUS [...]; IT MAKES YOU WANT TO GET INTO THE TANK WITH HER AND FONDLE HER [...]; IF YOU DARE, BECAUSE SHE HAS A MEAN SIDE, IF SHE DOES NOT LIKE YOU , SHE JUST MAY EAT YOU.. AS WE SEE SHE DOES TO A COUPLE OF DUDES IN THE MOVIE. THE MOVIE BEGINS WITH A CIRCUS THAT HAS A FAKE MERMAID IN A FAKE TANK WITH BACKGROUND MUSIC, ;WHEN A VISITOR THAT HAS A LIVE MERMAID BUMS A RIDE BACK TO HIS HOME, WHERE HE REVEALS HIS MERMAID...A YOUNG GIRL BECOMES CLOSE TO THE MERMAID AND SUPERNATURALLY BECOMES PREGNANT WITH THE HELP OF THE QUEEN MERMAID, EVEN THOUGH SHE IS UNABLE ON HER OWN TO BEAR CHILDREN. THE MERMAID EVEN KILLS AN EX LOVER OF THE YOUNG GIRL AS A FAVOR; BECAUSE THE EX LOVER THREATENED HER. IN THE END THE QUEEN MERMAID TRICKS THE BOAT CAPTAIN INTO NAVIGATING HIS BOAT TO THE MERMAID LAIR, WHERE EVERYONE ON THE BOAT IS KILLED BY THE MERMAID AFTER SHE TRANSFORMS INTO THE MERMAID QUEEN, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE YOUNG GIRL THAT BEFRIENDED THE MERMAID.. WHOM WE SEE IN THE END ROWING IN THE ROW BOAT WITH HER DAUGHTER CONCEIVED WITH THE HELP OF THE MERMAID,,, BUT THERE IS A TWIST IN THE END,, THE YOUNG GIRL IS SWORN NEVER TO REVEAL TO ANYONE WHAT SHE SAW,, WHICH WAS AN AGREEMENT SHE MADE WITH THE QUEEN MERMAID FOR HER LIFE,,,, ANOTHER PLOT TWIST IS WHAT WE SEE IN THE GLEAM OF HER DAUGHTER'S EYES,, HA,,, HER DAUGHTER IS NOT FULLY HUMAN,, BUT HALF MERMAID AND HALF HUMAN,, SO,, WE ALL HOPEFULLY CAN ANTICIPATE A SEQUEL TO THIS MOVIE,, I HOPE SO,, BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE NUDE MERMAIDS WITH BODACIOUS BODIES AND LUSCIOUS [...].. LOL
