Hello Big Man Reviews:
Damn, This Album Gets to Me! 5 Star Review
2009-11-11 - I love it! It's CLASSIC Carly. The lead single, "You Know What to Do" is soooo sexy and erotic and this time around, we find her exploring Reggae with a remake of Bob Marley's "Is This Love?" My favorite here is "Menemsha." My insides get all happy with that tribal/fishing village "thang" she's got goin' on in the mix with the marimba and steel drums. As always, she's is in her usual niche as a folky, romantic storyteller of sorts who's never been fearful of trying out "new" sounds. The title cut was written and dedicated to her parents, which makes it especially endearing and beautiful. This would be her 3rd and last album for Warner Brothers before a switch to Epic/CBS in 1985 with the severely underrated "Spoiled Girl" album.

RE-mastered--or not? 5 Star Review
2009-04-28 - Can someone who has purchased the Rhino Flashback version tell me: does it say it is "RE-mastered?" Thanks.

One of Carly's greatest! 5 Star Review
2009-04-15 - If you ask me, this is one of miss Simon's best albums ever!
This album is considered a flop, failure, whatever you wanna call it, but in my opinion it's a true work of art.
Carly experimented with a couple of sounds on this record, like true 80's pop and reggea and does so very, very good!
The album's opening track You Know What To Do, is a great track that sounds every inch like 80's pop tracks sounded back in 1983. This could easily have been a Billi Idol or Talk Talk track.
Orpheus can be compared to Joni Mitchell's Blue, it's an amazing work of art how this song describes Carly's divorce from James Taylor. It's such a shame this song never got the attention or praise it so deserved!
This song alone makes it more than worth to go out and buy this record.
I have never really liked reggea music, but Carly's experimental songs like Menemsha, the Bob Marley cover Is This Love? and Floundering work very well and I have to admit that I love them, especially the first one.
The title track Hello, Big Man tells us the story of how Carly's parents met and fell in love.
Since this record has previously been re-released I suggest that if you like Carly only a bit, you'd get this record as fast as you can and you won't regret it.
You'd probably even be thankful to me for recommending it to you!!

Pre "torch songs" CDs 4 Star Review
2009-03-20 - I've waited for this re-issue, as it fits nicely with Carly's trio of "Torch" CDs althugh technically it isn't one (the trio being My Romance, Torch, and Moonlight Serenade). Not 100% great material, but underrated overall.

Such a great album!!! 5 Star Review
