Editorial Review:
Everyone has what it takes to be sexy. Let go of those inhibitions and insecurities and allow Carmen Electra take you from ho-hum to hot.
Millions have experienced Carmen Electra’s vivacious charm and drop-dead sex appeal from afar--from her roles on Baywatch and MTV’s Singled Out, to her dozens of movie and television appearances, to her wildly popular Aerobic Striptease videos. Now, in How to Be Sexy, she shows you that even if you weren’t born with an alluring aura (or killer curves), you can learn how to be super sexy.
Carmen explains that sexiness starts with confidence, personality, and a willingness to laugh at yourself, so your inner glow will radiate outward and make the world sit up and take notice. Then she reveals the tricks of the trade for upgrading your appearance, with step-by-step instructions for hair styling and makeup application, and choosing fashion that flatters – including tips and techniques from some of the most talented stylists, makeup artists, and coaches in Hollywood. Finally, she shows you how to strut your stuff with chapters on body language and the lost art of seduction.
How to Be Sexy Reviews:
great tips!
2008-05-13 - I thought this was really good. I am a married 30something who wants to look good for hubby, and yet not forget that I am still a woman who wants to feel sexy around other people (men) too.. I especially liked the make up ideas (I have actually already purchased the fake eyelashes, we'll see if I ever have the chance to wear them!) - day and night stuff, etc.. I also liked the pep talk of being confident in yourself, no matter size/shape/age.. Kudos!
Waist of time..
2007-11-06 - The design of this book is girly cute, only thats why I gave it one star. This book carring no more information that I already know. Some of the tips were so old, that I remember them since I was a little girl. In the beggining I believed it was Carmen talking, but after few pages, the style of writing totally changed. So Carmen, puh-leeze!
I waisted my time reading it, thats it!
Not specific enough
2007-11-02 - Every time I see a "Carmen-type" woman, I always wonder how they know how to find the perfect shade lipgloss and the awesome tops and jeans. It's as if there is a secret "hot-girl" store. I was hoping Carmen's book would give specifics such as "buy Loreal lipgloss in Perfectly Peach". I understand what looks good on one person may not look good on another, but I bought the book hoping she would be specific about what worked for her. She is also short like me, so I was hoping she would talk specifically about what specific clothing and what lengths work for her. Basically, you could find the exact same advice in beauty magazines like Allure.
Sexy Like Carmen
2007-08-23 - I really liked reading this book. It had a lot of great tips in it. Carmen is beautiful and duh sexy too! So why not learn how to be sexy from one of the sexiest stars?! I think this book is a must for any woman.
Pretty good beauty talk
2007-08-03 - When I first started reading this book I was a little put off because I had a silly, first hand narration that seemed a litte forced and corny and faked. But after a while I was completely sold. I have to say I've always liked Carmen. Yes she's a groupie and a bimbo, but she still seems smart and funny and not at all pretentious. No "I'm a serious actress and my [...] are real" bs. Anyway, you get the impression it is actually her own words that are in the book and no ghostwriter and if you are into clothes and makeup and all that it's good stuff. I like the parts about self-esteem too. However there are a couple of chapters at the end that are rather silly, like stuff about trying to charm a guy through body language. I'd much rather have a book called Carmen Electra's Beauty and Health than this because it seems a litte sad and desperate and embarrasing to have in your bookcase. So there are a couple of parts that I think she should have skipped, and also there are a couple of thing I wish she had put in. I think a lot of girls would have been interested in a chapter about body maintance, what she eats and doesn't eat and exercise and how she manages to stay motivated. After all, Electras body is a large part of what makes her famous but she doesn't mention that at all. While I'm at it a bit more about actual sex and relationships wouldn't have hurt either. Overall I'd give it a 3. It's pretty good exept for the name and a few of the chapters and the fact that it's pretty slim. I read it in one sitting.
