Editorial Review:
The success of the original Halloween launched six sequels, a ravenous decade's worth of imitators, and Hollywood careers for star Jamie Lee Curtis and director John Carpenter. But its budget was a micro one, and director Carpenter managed to save a few bucks by hiring the same composer he'd worked with since his days as a student and struggling indie--himself. Borrowing the staccato rhythmic devices of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells cum Exorcist score, Carpenter overlaid them with a few simple Grand Guignol-esque synth chords and created nothing less than a surprisingly enduring horror classic. Carpenter also gleaned a few hints from Italian prog-rock horror-score kings Goblin, imbuing his simple, synthesizer-based cues with an almost subconscious sense of dread, tension, and impending doom. If the music has become something of a modern cliché, that's only a testament to its continued ability to strike terror in the hearts of listeners. --Jerry McCulley

Halloween: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Reviews:
Halloween Soundtrack (The Original) 5 Star Review
2009-05-30 - Since the original movie Halloween is one of my favorite all time horror movies and the fact that they don't quite make movies like that anymore, I felt that after all this time I wanted to have the original score. After all, it was as much the music that made Halloween one of the greatest horror movies of all time. Not to put down any of the great monster movie makers of early films like Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy...etc. Bela Logosi and Lon Chaney, Vincent Price, just to name a few, were all great. But Halloween set the standard for a new era of horror films. Not like the hack-n-slash films of today. It's all blood and gore, where is the suspense? Halloween had suspense, which is why I'd put it up against anything that has been put out today, including that rip off waste of time and money version that Rob Zombie put out. There's and hour and a half of my life I won't get back.

A Must-Have For All HALLOWEEN Fans!!! 5 Star Review
2009-02-28 - If you are a big HALLOWEEN fan, then you should own this CD! A few years ago when I was in high school, I had a HALLOWEEN friend who loved HALLOWEEN just as much as me and he got me this CD! He's awesome! I love the music, especially the main theme that plays during opening with the pumpkin! All my friends and family know how much I love HALLOWEEN, and now everybody who read my reviews should know! I highly recommend the HALLOWEEN: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK!!!

Classic soundtrack to a classic movie 5 Star Review
2009-02-15 - The Halloween soundtrack is simply classic. Everybody has heard the familiar music from this soundtrack at one time or another, even if some have never seen the movie. The music is scary and gives you a feeling that something is out there lurking around, but you don't know what. The best tracks on this soundtrack are the Halloween Theme, Laurie's Theme, Michael Kills Judith, The Haunted House, The Shape Lurks, and The Shape Stalks. The music gets repetitive at times, but that's OK because it fills up the disc. Definitely buy the ORIGINAL soundtrack and not some imitation. If you buy an imitation, you're shortchanging yourself because nothing beats the original. If you're at a store and you see the music to this movie, carefully read the label to make sure it's the original. It's just like when you buy a CD with songs that are by the original artists. It wouldn't be the same if you unknowingly bought a CD thinking you're getting the original recordings by the original artists, only to throw it in the CD player and hear basically karaoke versions of the songs. It pays to pay attention when shopping.

Good soundtrack 5 Star Review
2007-10-21 - I'll make my review short so here it is:

If your looking for the original michael myers halloween music look no further, this is indeed the better soundtrack than the special edition one. This soundtrack includes all the music you hear, except Mr.Sandman, from the original halloween film. This soundtrack doesn't have voice clips within the tracks so if you want just the music, buy this soundtrack.

Halloween Soundtrack CD. 5 Star Review
2007-09-21 - A spine chilling a self chilling that keeps on creeps you in a haunting way until you buy this CD only to hear it at home. This is one of the best made CD ever been made.
