The Ultimate Matrix Collection [Blu-ray] Reviews:
Perfect...Unless you really wanted that Digital Copy
2009-12-12 - I really loved this set. For the Matrix lover, this is the ultimate disc set. From how the movies were made to the Philosophy behind the Matrix, I was really engrossed in the set. The video was really good but the sound was a little uneven. In fight scenes, it was like you were in the theater, but in some conversation scenes, I could barely hear the people talking. My only big problem is that I was really looking forward to the digital copy and I was hoping to place it on my iPOD. Here is the problem. The activation code sheet has an expiration...a very quick one. I bought the set on December 11th, 2009 and the code to activate the digital copy had expired TWO MONTHS before in October. The set was released in October 2008 and Warners only gave you like a year to buy and get full use out of the set. So pretty much 1 of the discs out of the set is really an expensive frisbee. I wrote Warner Brothers customer support hoping they will remedy this considering those discs were worth $10 on its own. This is the only reason I did not give it five stars.
One of the best Movie Trilogies out there
2009-12-10 - This is a must have for Sci-Fi Movie fans. Although, the picture and audio quality were not as good as other Blu-ray movies.
Get the trilogy instead
2009-12-05 - Most of you have probably already seen the movies. I like all three movies. Reload and Revolution is really one single movie. Put together, I would rate them as high as the original movie, story wise. Hack them into two and you get two incomplete movies. No such problem in this compilation as you don't have to wait for a year for Revolution after Reload. The extras aren't worth it, in my opinion. They are in DVD quality and nothing to look at even for matrix fanatics like myself. The playable soundtracks are in stereo and poorer in quality than audio CD. Neither do I care for Animatrix. I don't agree in the opinion that the two sequels are redundant but I do think that Animatrix is. The animated shorts are either poorly thought-out or totally unnecessarily. For example, a short telling the history of the world before the Matrix, robots are depicted as human like with hands and feet, and had to commute to work each day. I understand it is a metaphor of the overworked Japanese salaryman but the picture is simply unconvincing. Other shorts just retells the same story of what you find in the movie. I do enjoy the short about a boy who set himself free by committing what look like a suicide. Overall, the extras in this compilation is totally ignorable. You are fine with just the Trilogy. I know they are not available here but check out Amazon UK (www.amazon.co.uk). With the declining British pound, you can get it for around $24, that's 50% off the price of the Ultimate Collection! The site also clearly states that it is region free. I would get it had I not bought the Ultimate Collection already. Why pay $25 more for redundant extras?
Great product
2009-12-03 - The product turned out to be great. I am happy with the arrival and condition of the product.
Good but BR quality not the best I've seen
2009-11-18 - Good but BR quality not the best I've seen; Probably due to the many dark scenes throughout the films; other than this, Amazon was excellent in delivering the product. Viewed on PS3 and samsung 120hz 650 series LCD.
