Editorial Review:
'Imagine' (featuring all previously unreleased tracks) is the first Eva Cassidy album released since 'Songbird's worldwide success. 'Songbird' is certified Gold in the U.S., was No.1 on both Billboard's Catalog Album Chart & Internet Chart in 2001, & was a No. 1 pop album & certified triple platinum in the U.K. In addition to Eva's starkly moving tribute to John Lennon's 'Imagine', Eva Cassidy re-interprets 'It Doesn't Matter Anymore' - distinctly different from the Buddy Holly & Linda Ronstadt versions. Ryko. 2002.

Description of Imagine:
For anyone who suspects that record companies will soon be releasing Eva Cassidy's voice mail messages, it's extraordinarily pleasing to note that Imagine is more than just a bottom-of-the-barrel-scraping exercise. All of these tracks are previously unreleased and most are live recordings, but listeners who already own Live at Blues Alley know just how refreshing Cassidy's live performances were. Check out her take on Sandy Denny's "Who Knows Where the Time Goes?" to feel a shiver of delight at another effortlessly ideal cover, or listen to her laid-back "You've Changed" from the Blues Alley sessions to experience more of her soulful jazz. Elsewhere, the solo acoustic reading of Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" shows off her guitar skills, and if "Imagine" doesn't ever scale the heights of Songbird's "Over the Rainbow" it still demonstrates how she always had something new and uniquely compelling to say when performing a familiar standard. Studio recordings "Still Not Ready" and "I Can Only Be Me" are, oddly perhaps, the least successful cuts. Happily, the album concludes with another lovely solo standard, "Danny Boy." The recording quality varies noticeably from track to track, and there are a few awkward fade-outs--presumably to remove audience noise--but still the sparkling music comes across quite vividly. Imagine may not be the best way to discover Eva Cassidy for the first time, but established fans will warmly welcome this new collection. --Mark Walker

Imagine Reviews:
Eva Cassidy CD 5 Star Review
2009-12-12 - She is a remarkable singer/musician. I bought this as a Christmas present because of "The Tennessee Waltz" and "Danny Boy" tracks. She does complete justice to both of these pieces. There may be singers who do as well as she does, but there are none who do it better.

Imagine by Eva Cassidy 5 Star Review
2009-11-07 - Although I have this CD and like it, I purchased this one as a gift for a friend.

Another good release 3 Star Review
2009-08-04 - I've been a fan of Eva Cassidy for a few yrs now. I'd have to agree w/ another review; not the best way to discover her, but if you're already familiar, a good, solid release. She can take even a song you've heard many, many times before & make it her own, such as Imagine, Danny Boy or You won't matter anymore.

Memorable Songs & Interpretations - Eva's Best! 5 Star Review
2008-12-25 - This CD was my introduction to this great artist - recommended by friends - and I couldn't have been luckier. I believe this was her best effort.

Eva's bluesy takes on "oldies" certainly gave those songs a distinct sound. She does a Buddy Holly song, a Peggy Lee classic, John Lennon and Judy Collins classics, some wonderful folk favorites of mine ("Early Morning Rain") and standards like Tennessee Waltz and Danny Boy. In other words, she covers a number of genres, giving her special brand on each one.

Her version of Tennessee Waltz is absolutely spellbinding to me. Eva packed a lot of punch into her songs - real "soul," if you will. I've never quite heard such a haunting voice and unique interpretations of well-known songs.

She doesn't get rave reviews just for being another artist who died tragically young; she earned it for the way she sang. She was special and I think this CD shows it, bigtime.

Tommy... thank-you for introducing me to Eva Cassidy 5 Star Review
2008-06-23 - I will always remember and thank my beloved brother, Thomas John Greene, who introduced me to Eva Cassidy some years ago. This is a beautiful album of her music (they all are). How can I not think of you, Tom, as I listen to Imagine... God bless your sweet soul (and Eva's too). Miss you. Love, Eileen
