Editorial Review:
Celine Dion's second English-language album made her a star all over the world, not just in France and her native Quebec. The tag-team production work is sometimes heavy-handed, swathing Dion in background choruses and gauzy keyboard washes, but her voice soars above it all, showing off her incomparable range and power. The public certainly responded to Dion's talent, landing her four singles from the album--"If You Asked Me To," "Nothing Broken But My Heart," "Love Can Move Mountains," and "Beauty and the Beast" (a duet with Peabo Bryson and the theme to the hit animated movie)--in the Top 40. --Daniel Durchholz

Celine Dion Reviews:
awesome album 5 Star Review
2008-11-14 - This album has so many power ballads, like Water from the moon, If you asked me to, Nothing broken but my heart... One of my favs for sure!

Celine Dion; Celine Dion CD Review 5 Star Review
2008-05-19 - This is the second English-speaking album of Quebec superstar Celine Dion. It is a subtle change from her first English language album, Unison. As the first album was of a very 80's beep bop feel, with classic dance tracks and rhythms, this one focuses more on the 90's love ballad genre. This is a definite album to put on when you are in need of some inspiration, enlightening or just a good cry for that matter. Celine shows extreme emotion when singing her songs and it makes you feel you can relate to her words, as opposed to tapping your feet to a good beat.
The introduction to the album is a sort of speaking verse in French, which leads dramatically into 'Love Can Move Mountains'. This song is one of my favourite Celine songs. It's message is simple, and using a pop beat with gospel background vocals is pure genius for the title. For me, it is Celine's best song from her early career on the charts. My all time favourite song from the album (not from the charts) is 'Nothing Broken but my Heart'. It's filled raw with emotion and anyone can relate to the subtle text and tone of the words portrayed. Plus it really helped me get over a particularly difficult time of my love life.
This album also offers the soundtrack to the movie 'Beauty and the Beast', a duet between Celine and Peabo Bryson, soul/pop singer. Being a fan of Disney, I find it perfect that one of my favourite films has been combined with one of my favourite singers.
Produced by the likes of Vito Luprano, Walter Afanasieff,Humerto Gatica, Guy Roche and Ric Wake, the album speaks fluently from the heart to anyone and everyone who listens to it! With other such brilliant songs as 'If you Could Ask me to', 'Halfway To Heaven', 'If I were you' and 'With this Tear', you won't be disappointed with the purchase of this immaculate piece of art. The song that was also included (and released as a US/UK single) on 'Unison', appears here too ('that is 'Where Does My Heart Beat Now'). Therefore the possibilities are endless when you give it a chance and listen. You will be 'Halfway To Heaven'.

My Favorite 5 Star Review
2007-12-06 - I love all her music but this is my favorite. My favorite 2 songs no one ever seems to mention "Water From The Moon" and "With This Tear".Thanks to Dianne Warren on one and Prince for the latter. It's a shame she never sings them in her concerts once in a while.

Her 2nd album...not as good as her first 3 Star Review
2007-10-10 - This album is where Celine found her groove: slow songs. Her pervious album "Unison" had many many more upbeat songs. The two big standout hits on this CD are "Love Can Move Mountains" and "Beauty And The Beast".

Celine Dion Finds Her Style (3.5 stars) 4 Star Review
2007-03-25 - "Celine Dion", the eponymous album of the 24-year-old new diva, did not cause quite a marketing splash at the time of its release, as the Canadian singer worked on the territory successfully occupied by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston at the time. But nevertheless, it's an album full of great songs with only a few fillers -- especially so, if you're into quality adult contemporary music. It finds songwriter Diane Warren at the top of her game -- although four years later she penned Celine's penultimate "Because You Loved Me" and Toni Braxton's classic "Un-break My Heart", she offers a handful of minor gems here, too. Songs like "If You Asked Me To", "Nothing Broken But My Heart", "I Love You, Goodbye" and "Water From the Moon" sound tried and good after all these years. Also hard to overlook here is the work of Mariah Carey's then-producer Walter Afanasieff, whose contribution, including the soaringly excellent "If You Could See Me Now" really feel like taken from Mariah's "Emotions" or "Music Box" albums. Celine could also be proud of her version to the Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast", sung as a duet with Peabo Bryson. (He later went on to record even a bigger Disney smash, "A Whole New World" from "Aladdin"). Prince also shows his romantic songwriting face in "With This Tear" and even Kenny G appears on a well-done, although rather synth-heavy collaboration "Halfway to Heaven". The album spawned a few Top 20 hits and remains a well-produced affair full of romantic songs sung in a great, youthful voice.
