  • Editorial Review:
At 14 years old, Lukas is a bit too small for his age, and far too smart for his high school classmates. He's more interested in symphonies and science fairs than food fights and football. But when Lucas finds himself falling in love with a cheerleader, who only has eyes for the school's top jock, he grows desperate for her attention, Even if it means risking his pride and his neck at the big game.

    Description of Lucas:
A surprisingly engaging story of puppy love and friendship in a teen setting, this film focuses on the title character (Corey Haim), who is nerdy but winningly outgoing. He falls madly for a new girl in town (Kerri Green); since school is out for the summer, he becomes her only friend--until she meets his hunky pal (Charlie Sheen). Meanwhile, Lucas ignores the romantic yearnings of another female pal (Winona Ryder, in her screen debut). Written and directed by David Seltzer, this one is a charmer with substance, featuring strong, open performances by its young cast. It's also fascinating to watch today, more than a decade later, and consider what became of these performers: while Ryder grew to be one of Hollywood's brightest lights, Haim descended into substance abuse, as did Sheen, whose predilection for call girls also made him a talk-show punch line. --Marshall Fine

    Lucas Reviews:
    Lucas rocks 5 Star Review
2009-09-01 - I ordered "Lucas" to enjoy with my 11yr old grandson, who's going out for football next year. The movie offers a lot of "messages" that I think got through: respect for others, respect for those a little different than ourselves, not following the pack, etc. We had great discussions about the characters afterward.

"Throw it to Lucas!" 5 Star Review
2009-08-16 - The DVD has both full-screen & wide-screen editions on opposite sides. Video quality is what you'd expect from an 80s movie. There are no extras, but I didn't expect any. Disc is in a keeper case (not the half-paperboard variety). The movie, itself, is exactly as I remembered; a surprisingly confident nerdy kid tries his best to catch the eye of a girl. You can't help but like almost everyone in this movie. All-in-all, just a light, feel-good movie that doesn't become unbelievable.

    Lucas 5 Star Review
2009-06-06 - I have loved Lucas for twenty years. So glad I found it on Amazon. It has such a good message and fun actors. Loved it.

    80's movie 5 Star Review
2009-04-28 - this was in my opinion a good movie. it's about a 14 year old kid who comes from the wrong side of the tracks and he falls in love with a beautiful 16 year old girl who's willing to be his friend but is in love with a football player. everyone including most of the football players are mean to him but become friends in the end.

    Very good 3 Star Review
2008-12-26 - This was a great movie. Kids and adults can both enjoy it. I am from Australia and It was hard to buy this movie in Australian shops so I bought it on Amazon. It was a Christmas present for my Nephew who is 13. He loved it. Its a good wholesome movie that many people may never of heard of because its old but its a great film for kids.
