Let Me In Reviews:
The Album That Finally Got Her Recognized!
2009-10-17 - If you asked any Chely Wright fan which album is there fave, you can guarantee it's gonna be this one!!
There's so many gems on this- her 3rd album.
From the big hit Shut Up And Drive( a classic)to her other uptempos like the great Your Woman Misses Her Man,Just Another Heartache and the cracking Feelin' Single And Seein' Double. This will have you pressing the repeat button in no time!
She also has some beautiful ballads like the title track,Before You Lie,10lb Heart and the gorgeous Emma Jean's Guitar.
This is a fantastic album that you simply must have in your country collection...
Emma Jean's Guitar is great
2009-01-01 - We enjoyed this CD when it was released. The song Emma Jean's Guitar from this CD is a classic. I am always happy to hear it. So are my wife and niece. My five stars are for this song. I do not have any of the other songs from this CD on my ipod any more. We also like I Already Do and Shut Up and Drive.
Wright turn
2007-08-06 - I didn't like this album quite as much as "Right in the Middle of It." It's not quite as fun and catchy as that album; fewer quick tunes. There's good stuff here though, including:
Your Woman Misses Her Man
Emma Jean's Guitar - nice tune about history of a guitar and its former owner
Is It Love Yet
Feeling Single and Seeing Double
Souful and Heartfelt
2007-05-25 - On this record, her new label and producer helped Chely "break out." This album has better material and is produced to appeal to "no frills" fans more- this is some of Chely's best work. Its obvious that she knew her voice all along; she only needed to find an audience.
These are excellent song choices;they fit into Chely's style well. Many are subdued yet still emotional. "Shut Up and Drive" was the hit single that got her noticed. Its well-chosen but not Chely's best. The title track is a power ballad, pleading and hearfelt. "Emma Jean's Guitar" is a throwback song about a bygone era- a perfect choice because Chely is definitely a throwback to a simpler era. "Feelin Single-Seein Double" has a honky tonk 70s feel. "10lb heart" is a little corny, but this is after all country, and I still love her delivery. This album is permeated with her simple beauty, and "I Already Do" is a good example. Its the best representation of Chely's talent (co-written by her).
I highly recommend this. It has a soulfulness pop/country can't claim. Its more traditional than pop, but really as other reviewers have stated, all you need to like this is to appreciate quality singing delivering well-crafted lyrics. As she proclaimed on a later record, "Its the Song."
Let Me In
2007-02-14 - This is her best CD. "Before You Lie" is lovely and really shows-off her voice. The whole CD is a good listen.
