Description of Funny Farm:
George Roy Hill (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) directed this 1988 comedy that gives star Chevy Chase one of his better-quality vehicles. Chase plays a New York sportswriter who turns to the country for a simpler, happier way of living. He discovers, of course, that things don't work out that way. Hill's usual touch with comic timing, tone, and dialogue give Chase a rare career opportunity to be part of something a little classier than most of his other movies; but Funny Farm nevertheless has its share of so-what gags. Still, the film's overall tone is winning and laid-back, and it makes for nice escapist fare. --Tom Keogh
Funny Farm Reviews:
Stupid love!
2009-10-21 - What a silly movie! Of course, it's Chevy Chase. I saw it years and years ago and no one I know has ever heard of it. But it always makes me smile when I see it. So it's a good pick-me-up movie. I love seeing the snow too. This was especially true when living in places that didn't have snow. It's a classic! Pick it up!
Where is the Criterion Brothers Version???
2009-09-21 - This gem is not yet remastered?? I have seen this movie more times than A Christmas Story and Willy Wonka. No remastering, commentaries or extras. What a shame this is an 80's classic up there with The 'Burbs, Weird Science and Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
One of the most witty, charming and funny movies of all time and Madolyn Smith was a super hottie.
Pretty good movie
2009-09-05 - I got this movie because I'm a fan of Chevy Chase. It has his usual Chevy Comedy in it,if that's what your looking for.
Classic Chevy Chase
2009-07-06 - Great movie. Fun for the whole family. Classic Chevy Chase physical humor, without the vulgarity of a Ben Stiller movie.
Fun Movie
2009-06-07 - City folk move to country. Finally writing that novel. Becoming homeowners. Lots of cliche ideas, a few grains of substance buried in fluff BUT it works. The really good writing and fresh ideas in a great setting with spot on acting makes this a classic good romp of a fun movie.
