Editorial Review:
Import-only limited edition Sony/BMG 'Gold Award' pressing of this album comes in unique packaging, which contains artwork that resembles a Gold Record Award presentation plaque. Features all the same great tracks found on the original release including 'Genie In A Bottle', What A Girl Wants', 'Blessed' and more. 2006.

Description of Christina Aguilera:
Like fellow former Mickey Mouse clubber Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera kicks off her debut album with a teen-lust nugget--in this case, the No. 1 single "Genie in a Bottle"--that the rest of the disc can't possibly live up to. Aguilera has a strong voice, but patterns herself after iffy role models such as Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Aside from "Genie," most of this music is straight from the cookie cutter, like the less than successfully sultry "When You Put Your Hands on Me" and the Mulan ballad showpiece "Reflection." In chart terms, though, there'll be no stopping her--at least for a while. --Rickey Wright

Christina Aguilera Reviews:
How can you not love this? 5 Star Review
2009-12-06 - Christina's stellar debut! Although I was not a fan of her hit "Genie In A Bottle," or "I Turn To You," I adored "What A Girl Wants," "Come On Over," "Reflection", and "Love Will Find A Way," and "Obvious." Although Britney is a a huge guilty pleasure of mine, Christina definatly had the better debut album. (I also liked this much better than "Stripped.") I would call this perfect pop.

Get some talent! 1 Star Review
2009-11-12 - Oh my God, this is a fun dance album and fun to listen to. But the talent is in the production. Christina has never had a voice that deserves a second listen. She is background to her wonderful production excess, but just about anyone could substitute for her singing(?) ability. Christina's limited singing talent can be effectively used for sampling, but there is nothing substantial here. She has hired the right people to keep her career alive, but really who cares? Just think...who does she sing better than? No one. She is a lucky gal being able to turn her minor talent into a major career. Don't get me wrong, if you buy this CD, you will probably enjoy it; it is fun. But it is not Christina that is the talent here. This is just a production album.

christina has such true talent. 5 Star Review
2009-09-07 - o my! have the years gone by so much. it's already been 10 years. oh gosh, i do remember the 1999 where you had britney, jessica, mandy moore, and then christina. it was such an amazing, interesting year to remember. the first time i ever learned about christina was of course her genie in a bottle video. i did not know that she was the same person who appeared on "reflections" video because i do remember seeing that video months prior to this. this was my first christina aguilera cd. i got this cd as a christmas gift a year later. christina is a very underrated artist with an impressive vocals that remind you of mariah and whitney. it's a shame that she would be oversshadow by britney during these past years. it's kinda like with madonna and cyndi lauper. i like all the songs on the album. i don't find the songs to be too cheesy and lame. i think they're just right. not only do i respect christina as an artist, but i respect her for keeping a low key personal life and not let it spiral out of control.

1. GENIE IN A BOTTLE: the song that started it all. it's bubblegum pop but it's fun and very flirty. even though, she didn't want this as a first single, you must admit that this song had potential hit all over it. and it was released during the perfect time. smart move. 5/5

2. WHAT A GIRL WANTS: i think alot of girls out there can relate to this song. this was like an anthem for all the girls who know what they want. this song was another hit after "genie in a bottle" that got people singing this song everywhere. 5/5

3. I TURN TO YOU: i love this song. it's beautiful and really inspiring. and i love the vocals she showcase in this song. it's a really wonderful adult contemporary song. 5/5

4. SO EMOTIONAL: This is one of my favorites. and once again, christina sounds great. it's very r'n'b ish. 5/5

5. COME ON OVER: this is the song where christina begins to show off her sexual side. i remember this song was pretty popular in the summer of 2000. i remember hearing it on the radio alot. 5/5

6. REFLECTION: a wonderful ballad about self-image. the lyrics are powerful and christina sounds amazing. 5/5

7. LOVE FOR ALL SEASONS: i love this song. i played this song alot back then. i love it how she uses metaphors in this song. 5/5

8. SOMEBODY'S SOMEBODY: i like the beats to this song. it's very sexy. and i can relate to this song. 5/5

9. WHEN YOU PUT YOUR HANDS ON ME: "i just love when you put your hands on me, i feel sexy. and i lose my self-control.". yup, another sexy song from ms. aguilera. it's flirty as it's best. 5/5

10. BLESSED: in this song, she's saying all the things that she feels blessed for. it's very laidback and reflective and touching. 5/5

11. LOVE WILL FIND A WAY: yup, it's very 90ish. gosh, i don't know what else to say about this song other than it's a great song to dance to. 5/5

12. OBVIOUS-this is a great ending song. it's low-key and nice. 5/5

Pop explosion 4 Star Review
2009-08-29 - I think this album was a good stepping stone into the industry during the pop explosion. It was meant to be fun not serious. Her label admitted that they were staging her career after Britney Spears because of her success. They were in control of everything. Christina did put her say-so in it every-now-and-then. Christina admitted that she wasn't thinking about having her own style, sound etc. She just wanted the world to her voice. She did get four #1 top singles from the album and a Grammy though. The comparisons to Britney caused her to rebel against her label by changing her image and take hold of her career.
