My Kind of Christmas Reviews:
This is the only cd EVER that I haven't been able to listen through!
2009-12-26 - i wouldn't mind her songs if she wasn't the one singing them. but then again, she didn't write them, so they aren't actually her songs.
Really?
2009-12-12 - I'm shocked the average rating is so low; I bought this CD years ago when it came out and I just had to have it again because it is so good. I think there's a softness in her voice that really comes out in this CD that you otherwise don't often hear, and it's quite beautiful. I love the first track Christmastime, which is an original, and her renditions of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "The Christmas Song", and "O Holy Night" are completely fabulous. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Santa, Please Give Christina a Muzzle
2009-11-26 - There are two things that do not ever belong together: pretentious song "divas" and Christmas. This offensive pile of Yuletide depression is proof positive of that.
Like Mariah and Whitney, Christina's CD is not so much concerned with presents under the tree, or Jesus, or Santa, or any of that stuff. It's about vain, self-centered Christina and her amazing knack for howling like a banshee. "MY Kind of Christmas," not yours, bubby.
And her bag of tricks are extremely limited, ranging from the same indistinguishable hip-hop that she and her contemporaries crank out like so much blood sausage, to uninspired renditions of the standards. On the latter, the instrumentations are kept to a minimum so as not to compete with her garish vocals.
The one thing that Christina and her peers are incapable of is restraint. The purpose of singing should be to compliment the song, not overpower it. Until these superfluous sirens begin to realize this, I'll never be able to take them seriously as legitimate performers.
Beautiful Christmas music with a gospel touch
2009-11-11 - Christina's voice is great and she puts a lot of soul into these songs. I enjoy listening to this CD even when it's not Christmas time! Her backup singers and musicians are very good too. I highly recommend it.
Great X-mas Cd
2009-06-15 - got this cd when it first came out years ago! lvoed it then, but it got so many scratches, had to get a new one! Love it Love it
