Editorial Review:
An ingeniously campy and enormously entertaining piece of fluff, View from the Top stars the impossibly lithe Gwyneth Paltrow as Donna, a white-trash girl with dreams of escaping her dead-end life by becoming an international flight attendant. Her destiny is complicated by a sweet guy (Mark Ruffalo) who just wants to live with his family in Cleveland and by a sister stewardess (Christina Applegate) who stabs Donna in the back. View from the Top doesn't take itself seriously, yet takes itself just seriously enough--Donna and the rest of the characters treat their absurdly candy-colored world as if it mattered. As Donna experiences the world and improves her fashion sense, the result is both hilarious and hilariously touching. Also featuring Mike Myers, Kelly Preston, and Candice Bergen as Donna's visionary mentor. --Bret Fetzer

Fasten Your Seatbelts, Or Else...
2009-11-23 - David Abott (Ruffalo) is soo wooden, he makes Al Gore look emotionally compromised.
In fact, you could say the same about all the other characters Ruffalo plays. It is as if
he is powered by energizer batteries. It is as if lines of dialogue could substitute for him,
in scenes with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Wow. This movie was wonderful, except for all the references to nuts. I guess by the
time the movie ends, many in the audience, will have developed an allergy to nuts.
What is called "normal sexual behaviour" has been, and is being, redefined by psychiatrists,
and liberal theologians who wish to condone certain kinds of behaviour. To wit, words such
as 'normal' or 'homosexual' do not appear in the Bible (KJV). 'Normal' refers to a statistical
concept, as in, average. Follow not a multitude to do evil: See, Exodus 23:1-3, KJV. This
word 'sodomite' appears in the Bible (KJV): A sodomite is an ungodly, and wicked male.
(Concordances are useful. The Word of God is Truth. Do not add to, or subtract from,
scripture.) Behaviour that has been labelled 'homosexuality' (homo is a latin word, meaning
man) is condemned in scripture. If I say "pink energizer bunny" does an image appear in
your head? "They" desire to violate your mind, to corrupt you. Some sins are soo evil that
they are not labelled but merely described, perhaps so that you might not have to see an
image in your head upon hearing a single word. Man was created in the image of God. If
you say Sodomite, technically you are accusing another of being a resident in Sodom. Lot left
Sodom, he was "just passing through". You can touch something without accepting it. Some
sins are worse than other sins. A male who would put his privy member in somebody's mouth
is a sodomite. As is a man who would lie down with mankind as with womankind.
See, Genesis 19; Judges 19, KJV. There is also a difference between behaviour called consensual
and behaviour called coercive: Some sins are worse than other sins. Violation is a horrific
sin. Forgiveness and repentance go together: See, Luke 13:5, KJV.
Ever see Lilly Allen's music video, 'It's not Fair'? Why do psychiatrists compare a woman's foot
to a man's privy member, rather than a cow's udder, or to something edible like bubble gum?
Why not compare her hair to a flavour of ice cream? And why compare her bosom to her derriere?
Can they not see that the geometry is vastly different? Why not 'gingerbread girl'? Eat that which
tastes good, but do not lust...Snot, is not attractive. Use a kleenex if you want to blow your nose.
Referring to "nuts" just once, was enough, but "the joke" kept coming back. It was stupid.
This movie is like two in one: a romance, and a juvenile comedy, the latter stupid, but the
former saved this movie from obscurity...Some travel, while others want to stay in one place,
can a relationship work? Who will follow? Who will seduce?
She says:
Sally Weston represents an ideal of poise and
beauty and accomplishment that every flight
attendant should strive to achieve.
And then the other says:
Eww! I like her hair.
Well, at least she found something positive to say about Sally Weston.
1 out of 3: Poise, Beauty, and Accomplishment...She did not notice that
which is invisible, but the other did, and she was not referring to her
hair. Beauty can be invisible too...Or was the other's comment meant to
help the other see more clearly, help her understand the very words she
spoke, which she was probably quoting from a book, about Sally Weston?
But that would make "the bad one" the "helper angel": Help her grow.
Great Casting!
2009-11-03 - Maybe not a blockbuster hit, but this movie is quite entertaining and easy to watch. The casting was perfect for this light comedy. It shows the airline industry in its glamour days, which is a bit refreshing.
fast & easy
2009-06-16 - Product came as listed, and took a reasonable amount of time to reach us. Would buy from this person again.
What A Fun Flight Title.
2008-11-02 - I watch this movie awhile back and thought it was heartwarming and funny. a real chick flick that guys can watch without rolling their eyes and going oh my, throughout the whole film, it has also good lessons to learn. Gwyneth Paltrow plays a sweet girl Donna that grew on the wrong side of the tracks so to speak and wants a better life so she starts out at low rung airplane service serving drinks to people until she sees an ad for nice airline school for a better job. this film is just wonderful film and for the life of me, i can't understand why people dislike it. the cast is great Mike Myers is just hoot as the flight instructor at the school, Christina Applegate,Mark Ruffalo they do excellent jobs in their roles also.
Highly Recommended
Unbelievable
2008-07-23 - Can't believe Gwyneth Paltrow did this thing. I kept waiting for some irony. This is straight-ahead, nothing post-modern about it. As such, it's a throwback to the madcap comedies of Marilyn Monroe. Christina Applegate's role is one dimensional, as is Mike Myers'. The script is sort of barfable. Is this supposed to be Austin Powers for women?
