Description of Cindy Crawford - Next Challenge Workout:
This 1993 video is a one-hour workout combining stop-and-start cardio movements that are athletic (no dance) with muscle endurance moves with and without light weights. The cardio section uses moves like jogging, jumping, leg swings, and power moves such as fast lunge combinations, squats with jumps, and karate kicks. The lower body strengthening moves include variations of lunges and squats using body weight. The upper-body weight exercises are varied but done too quickly--it's easy to rely on momentum. Some of these exercises are oddly chosen: a number of the exercises that are supposed to work the chest fatigue the shoulders and back long before the chest muscles feel anything, for example. You'll certainly feel the many sets of ab exercises, however!
After the fitness experts panned Cindy Crawford's 1992 Shape Your Body because of its risky moves, this one was planned under the supervision of C. Thomas Vangsness Jr., M.D., Chief of Sports Medicine at the University of Southern California. Crawford doesn't fling her body as she did in the first one (why didn't her trainer teach her not to do this in the first place?), and she explains how to do the exercises properly. A glossary of exercises at the end emphasizes correct form. This is certainly better than Shape Your Body, but unless you're wild about Cindy Crawford, you can find workouts conducted by real fitness instructors that are better designed and demonstrated. --Joan Price
Cindy Crawford - Next Challenge Workout Reviews:
Best All-Around Workout Video
2009-10-20 - I've had this workout video on VHS for years. I got out of the habit of doing it for a few years and tried other things including pilates and swimming. I wanted some better results than what I was getting, so I tried this workout again. Nothing beats it! It has cardio, abs, arms, legs, back, EVERYTHING. You can grow with this workout. If it's too hard at first, you can pause the video and take a longer break than what they give you between sets in the video, or you can just do part of the sets or modify the movements as you built up your strength. I'll probably upgrade to the DVD since my VHS tape has been played so much that it might not last much longer. Save yourself an expensive gym membership and get this awesome workout video.
Welcome to your new body
2009-09-13 - You'll really modify your body with this DVD. I had the VHS cassette, and want to upgrade to DVD. This is an excelent work out, and if you really apply it at 3 times of week, you'll see results in about 2 or 3 weeks, it really works!!
A Timeless Classic
2009-08-09 - I had this video on VHS but could no longer use it because I didn't have a player, so I ordered it on DVD. The first time I bought this video was when it first came out over 15 years ago. I still enjoy this workout because it has a good warm up, strenuous exercises, short breaks for water and shaking it out, and leaves me feeling like I got a great workout. I alternate this with other workout DVDs during the week but I think this is the all time best all body workout.
Great workout
2009-05-03 - Had this workout video many years ago, so glad I was able to find it again. Was just as good as I remember. Great for abs and legs!
Blew off the dust
2009-03-31 - I used this video back when I was in college and it kicked my butt then. Fast forward 10 years later, I found this video one snow when I could not make it to the gym. After years of weight training and cardio work this video still kicks my butt, and it is so fun! I actually re-incorporated it into my weekly workout routine again, it is great for toning...and you do actually break a sweat doing the leg workout/cardio section.
