The stupidest movie I have ever seen!
2009-02-01 - This is the stupidest movie I have ever seen! I sent back the disk and demanded my money back.

2009-01-26 - The menu screen was printed in Slavic so it took forever to figure out how to turn off the foriegn subtitles. I've learned never to buy DVD's from the Net.

Scandinavian Import with no extras
2009-01-07 - Children of Men is a surprisingly well done movie, with good set design, a good script, good acting, and high production values. It is a cinematic gem whose reputation is likely to grow over time.

That is all I will say about the movie itself, because the primary purpose of this particular review is more limited: to let people know about the Blu Ray that Amazon sent me.

I received a Scandinavian import. While the quality of the picture was good, the opening screen was simply for the viewer to choose which of four languages (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, and Finnish) the subtitles would be in (luckily it was not dubbed but was in English). There were no extras that I could find, so it is truly a bare bones Blu Ray. As a result, I was disappointed with the Blu-Ray even though I like the movie itself very well. Caveat emptor, folks.


One of the finest films ever made ---- BUT......
2008-12-22 - I already own this movie on DVD and have seen it in HD via HD Cable.

Regardless of whether or not this title needs to be imported from the UK bears very little importance on it's price.

I mean, personally, I will never, ever spend more than $22.00 on a blu-ray title unless it's some sort of special collectors 2 or 3 disc edition. And even then, it has to be a title I REALLY, REALLY need to have in my collection.

If any blu-ray title doesn't fall below $20.00, I simply won't own it on blu-ray. It's amazing how the HD DVD version is priced at $17.00. They didn't need to import that one?

Most Blu-ray titles, especially the older ones are somewhere between $19.00 and some even as little as $12.00. I will rebuild my entire collection of over 500 DVD's with Blu-ray ---- as long as the prices stay affordable.

This movie, however, is truly a masterpiece. It took two viewings for me to appreciate it to that extent. My first viewing was interrupted and there were a lot of distractions. By my third viewing, I was saying to myself, "This movie really IS almost as good as "Bladerunner". It's personal taste, I guess. But if you like Sci-fi served up with great acting, and an even BETTER story, this is the movie for you.

Worth the import price
2008-12-02 - I imported this Blu-Ray several months ago from another source, for an even higher price, and I have no regrets. It's an incredible movie, and the transfer to Blu-Ray is excellent.
