Editorial Review:
When Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland started distributing homemade singles around Los Angeles at the beginning of the '90s, their bass-fortified, hard-rolling techno concoctions perked up the ears of industry impresarios and local scenesters alike. Vegas, their affectionately-titled major label debut, refines the formula. Thick with layers of pounding beats and rock dynamics, it takes the typical club fare and beefs it up with a uniquely western slant. The detectable influences range from the power chords of AC/DC to old school hip-hop patterns to the smooth melodies of Stevie Wonder. On blistering tracks like "Trip Like I Do" and "Keep Hope Alive," the Crystal Method confirm that America has become a force of contention in the electronica field. --Aidin Vaziri
Vegas Reviews:
This may very well be the greatest album of all time.
2009-12-17 - The Crystal Method is pure genius. I've been loving the hell out of various forms of electronic music since I was 13 years old...and this album is the single point I can trace all this madness back to. As I write this review I'm blasting Busy Child on full volume. Every single song on this album is it's own unique, awe-inspiring, trippy, mind blowing journey into the infinite possibilities of electronic music. Over the past 5 years I have accumulated literally tens of thousands of electronic music tracks, genres spanning breakbeat, drum and bass, house, electro, electro house, hardcore, hardstyle, trance, prog house, prog trance, psy trance, ambient, dubstep, jungle, minimal, etc...........and this album still stands out.
Vegas - New Beginning
2009-08-17 - I started to listening to the music of the TV show Third Watch, then I search for the composers of this, then I get cross with 1996 - Keep Hope Alive Almost a single for the song Keep Hope Alive, from all their albums VEGAS is the one I like More
One of the best electronic albums of all time
2009-05-31 - This album along with Prodigy's Fat of the Land are what I use to compare all other electronic albums to. A masterpiece.
The Classic Method
2009-02-12 - I'm not a big fan of Electronica, but some bands and soloists really do make some great music. The Crystal Method is one of them. The techno duo really knows how to make some excellent dance music. Take "Vapor Trail" and "Busy Child"; now you can't really criticize these two, can you? My favorite track here is "Trip Like I Do", but mainly because I heard the Filter remix from the 1997 Spawn album before I heard the original. "Comin' Back" features Trixie Reiss, and it's a must-hear for all Crystal Method fans worldwide. "Busy Child" seems a bit overrated nowadays, but it still has an amazing beat that cannot be defeated.
I haven't listened to the duo's later albums just yet, and I can hardly wait. Grade: A
You HAVE to LOVE these guys!
2009-01-03 - OK....THE TRACK on the CD is HIGH ROLLER.....currently being whored out by an auto maker for their advertising needs....Just like Paul Oakenfold (too many to list) and Chem Bro's (Push the button)! But you know what! Part of me thinks ABOUT TIME! It gets these guys PAID and that's what keeps em in the business. Anyway.....the CD is GREAT! A MUST HAVE for any "electro" music lover. To me you can mold this music how you want to...You want to be upbeat, it's easy to catch a layer of beats that will get you UP and dancing....tired? A whole other level is there that will put you to sleep! Like EVERY OTHER Crystal Method CD I own, this one is well mixed, well balanced, and great work by two great ARTISTS!
