Editorial Review:
Available in the U.S. only on 12' vinyl, '(Rap) Superstar' is one version of the first single from the hit Rap trio's 2000 album 'Skull & Bones', due out April 25th. The album is to be a two disc set with massive crossover potential as one disc will feature rap tracks ('skull') and the other will contain rock tracks ('bones'). 'Rap Superstar' contains excerpts of interviews with Noreaga and Eminem. Conversely, the other version of the song, 'Rock Superstar' (a mix of which is included here) features excerpts from interviews with Everlast (of House Of Pain fame) and Chino Moreno (Deftones) discussing the problems they've countered in the course of their respective careers and their advice to naive beginners just getting started. A video for both versions exists & the band's Muggs produced, arranged & mixed 'Superstar'. Soul Assassins/ Columbia is going for radio adds on 'Rock Superstar' this week. Pt.2 contains '(Rap) Superstar' (LP Version
Superstar Reviews:
the best rap can get
2000-08-17 - I do not like rap, but Cypress Hill is an exception. My friend played the Skull+bones cd(s). I heard (rap) superstar and heard B-real's cool voice. It doesn't matter if you hate rap Cypress Hill is just so cool. (rap) superstar is a very good song which is about the life of being a rapper. It explain's that it's not an easy job at all. It's worth buying the single, just for listening to the lyric's. The beat is so cool in the background and everything is just so perfect about this song.
Cyprus Hill review
2000-06-16 - This cd was very interesting. It might have some explicite lyrics but in my opinion speaks very throughly about itself. I also think this is a cd that most teenagers listen to and not a person of my age bracket. But all in all it was a good cd!
