Editorial Review:
Recorded at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, an 18,000-capacity sports arena in Paris, on June 14th, 2007. The CD captures the exuberant multi-media spectacle of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo's first hometown show in 10 years in front of a capacity crowd of thrilled fans.

Description of Alive 2007:
For fans of brazen electronic music, few acts offer the longevity, consistency, and booty-shakin' insistence of Daft Punk. In a kind of tenth anniversary celebration of the Parisian duo's limited-edition live album Alive 1997, Alive 2007 captures a long and sweaty concert performed before 18,000 hometown fans. There's almost nothing by way of original material here, though the performance culls all of Daft Punk's many notable singles from their uncompromising debut, Homework, the merciless Human After All; and the opulent, seminal Discovery (including lead single "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," which garnered renewed fame as the predominant sample buoying "Stronger," from rapper Kanye West's third album, Graduation). Regardless, devoted Parisians had weathered a full decade without a live performance, and the ecstatic, roof-raising release captured in this recording testifies to Daft Punk's inimitable position as one of the world's top electro-house phenomena. More importantly, perhaps, by fusing two or more "songs" per "track," Alive 2007 pulls off what 2003's remix/rarities album, "Daft Club," could not: namely, mixing the band's back catalogue with the kinetic fervor it deserves. At the end of the day (or the decade), no one does Daft Punk like Daft Punk. --Jason Kirk

Alive 2007 Reviews:
great mix-up, really rocks 5 Star Review
2009-12-08 - not much i can say about the D Punk alive 07 CD except that the 'Rockin' Factor gets turned up to 11 with this one. The music makes you move and you can feel the energy of the concert. Wish i was there! Cant wait until they tour the US again.

Great, but honestly expected a little more. 5 Star Review
2009-12-01 - First off, Let me just say that I am a casual fan of Daft Punk. I don't own any other album, but through osmosis have come to recognize and enjoy their stuff over the years.

The Recording has a great ambiance to it. Throughout the recording you can really hear the roar of the crowd. The music is definitely loud and clear. The Low end of the recording really kicks your subwoofer into full effect. I'm sure on any decent sound system this recording will knock your socks off, on a Great system you're gonna feel like you're there. That quality alone on the lo-fi amazon samples gave me cause for buying the full quality CD.

Alive 2007 does a great job of melting together their hits. Just by looking at the track listing you can see that each live "track" is like a mashup of two or three of their songs. Its keeps the performance fresh and familiar all at the same time. Its straight up like Daft Punk Night at the club, but everything transitions perfectly from song to song.

At times though, I kind of feel like there is more Build up, beat repeat, and hand-offs, than a climactic payoff on allot of the tracks. Though, it never gets stale cause there is always something happening musically.

For me, The musical "Run" from track 3 to 6 is pretty solid, then it takes a slow transition and buildup "breather" on Track 7. Actually, to be fair, Tracks 7 and 8 are more stand alone tracks that seem to work in the "hits" in a new fresh way. The Last runs that close out the CD 9-12 are all well executed and full of energy.
So i guess my favorite tracks would be 3-6 and 9-12.

3-6 and 9-12 are kind of the meat and cheese of the sandwich... but without the bread, mustard, and leatuce its not a sandwich now is it? In the end, a great purchase if you have any inclinations towards Daft Punk, it will serve you well.

Sort of awake 2009 3 Star Review
2009-11-25 - 3 1/2

As good a packaged techno concert translates to the home arena of subverted usage, Alive can feel a little dead at times but the punks keep things mixed up enough for repetition to never fully set in.

joke 1 Star Review
2009-11-06 - Q. What's the difference between daft punk and the grateful dead?
A. This sounds like cack even when you are on drugs.

You Must Buy 5 Star Review
2009-11-05 - I have never been inclined to write a review before, but ... DAMN. This album could be one of the greatest I have ever heard - in any genre of music. If you like any music in the slightest, you must buy this album. A beat making clinic is essentially given here, I can't think of any album that feels more uplifting/more danceable/more energetic. Rap producers wish they could provide beats like this (as evident by the sampling of Daft Punk music). DJs wish they could layer music so fluidly.

If you've ever listened to Daft Punk music, you definitely must buy this. It is amazing how they manage to weave their tracks together. The layering is amazing. I can't stop gushing sorry, but I average about 1 "O face" a minute while listening to this, so you can see why I am writing such a glowing review here.

50 five stars don't lie.
