Lionsgate Good Luck Chuck: Chucked-Up Edition (Blu-ray) (Unrated)
Dane Cook stars in this hilarious comedy about the luckiest guy on earth. Meet Charlie Logan (Cook), he's a good luck charm and women are guaranteed to find true love after they sleep with him. But what seems like a blessing feels like a curse when he meets Cam (Jessica Alba), the girl of his dreams. Chuck will do anything - and anyone - to break the curse and get the girl in this raunchy, outrageous story.
Description of Good Luck Chuck (Unrated) [Blu-ray]:
In a perfect world, Good Luck Chuck would've captured the humor of Superbad and the raunch of the American Pie films. But what we're left with, instead, is a raunchy film with an anemic storyline. Cursed as a child with a hex that prevents him from finding true love, Charlie "Chuck" Logan (Dane Cook) finds that the women he dates find the men of their dreams immediately after they've dumped him. For a guy who enjoys dating beautiful women, it doesn't seem like such a horrible thing. But then he meets and falls for beautiful and klutzy Cam Wexler (Jessica Alba). Charlie wants to have a meaningful relationship with her, but how can he make her fall in love with him without losing her to some unknown man waiting to sweep her off her feet? Good Luck Chuck isn't an original movie; Cook and Alba make for an attractive couple that exudes warm chemistry. And Alba proves that while she may be famous for her body, she's quite adept at physical comedy. Dan Fogler doesn't fare as well. He has the thankless role of playing Charlie's obnoxious best friend Stu, a borderline perv plastic surgeon who proudly displays a set of Pamela Anderson's breast implants in his office (which, coincidentally enough, is located right next door to Charlie's). The dialogue is crass and the direction is all over the place. Everything is played for laughs, but little actually is very funny in this comedy. This movie actually could've used a bit more good luck. And lots more wit. --Jae-Ha Kim
Good Luck Chuck (Unrated) [Blu-ray] Reviews:
hillarious
2009-11-09 - this movie is so funny. i don't understand why a lot of people are dissing it. i think it's hilarious. and Jessica Alba is so Hot. i love this movie if you haven't seen it I recommend it.
Great Movie! Very Funny!!
2009-09-29 - I enjoyed this movie so much when I rented it I decided to buy. Decided to get Blu-ray because Amazon had such a great price for it. This movie is hilarious! A definite buy!
Lame movie
2009-09-29 -
The problem with this movie and, I think, other Dane Cook movies, is that the character he plays are absolutely unsympathetic and without redeeming moral quality. Even after he "learns" his lesson or does whatever it is he does that makes it possible for him to get the girl, he is still not a likeable character. There is a limit to how much an audience can relate to someone who acts poorly all the time. Moreover, this a one joke movie.
Movies this bad only reinforce that even vulgar comedies, which can be quite funny, live or die by their writing. A poor script makes for a poor movie, even if it does have Jessica Alba in it.
Good Funny Pick
2009-09-23 - Good Luck Chuck is a good romantic comedy (I know, it was hard for me to believe) movie. Jessica Alba is sooooo HOT! and Dane Cook does a good job acting in this movie. Good Luck Chuck is about a man and the myth that if he sleeps with someone, the next person they meet is their true love. It has some really funny scenes between Chuck and his best friend who is a complete pervert. This is a good movie it is funny, well written, and clever.
Should be called, "Dane Cook makes a porno"
2009-09-13 - This movie was not funny, was not interesting and had too much gratuitous sex. I won't even honor this movie by calling it a chick flick as it was awful.
