Editorial Review:
The New York Times bestseller-from the author of Math Doesn't Suck-teaches girls how to kick pre-algebra butt
In her New York Times bestselling books, actress and math genius Danica McKellar shatters the "math nerd" stereotype and gives girls the tools to ace middle-school math in her unique, just-us-girls style. Now, in her second book, Kiss My Math, McKellar empowers a new crop of girls-seventh to ninth graders-to tackle the next level of mathematics: pre-algebra.
Stepping up not only the math but the sass and style, McKellar helps math-phobic teenagers chill out and finally "get" negative numbers, variables, absolute values, exponents, and more. As she did so effectively in Math Doesn't Suck, McKellar uses personality quizzes, reader polls, real-life testimonials, and stories from her own life-in addition to clear instruction, helpful tips, and practice problems-revealing why pre-algebra is easier, more relevant, and more glamorous than girls think. McKellar is clearly reaching her audience: parents, teachers, and especially girls are asking for more.
Kiss My Math: Showing Pre-Algebra Who's Boss Reviews:
Math In It's Simplest Form
2009-11-17 - This book seemed to review/repeat a great deal of "Math Doesn't Suck" but was still interesting. The delivery of the item was quick and in excellent condition, Thanks!
Every girl/young woman should read this book
2009-11-14 - Kiss my Math is great! In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I want to get my niece copies of both books. Just wish it had been around when I was in school. Danica McKellar not only does a great job explaining concepts, she also encourages young women to excell.
PRICELESS
2009-11-10 - My 6th grade daughter and I love to lay down and read this book like a novel. We laugh and learn about math topics. Her math comprehension has increased since purchasing this book. We now share little jokes about math subjects that help her remember during test. Imagine......Mom and daughter love to read a math book. That is priceless!!!!!
Kiss my Math is excellent
2009-10-28 - This book is for anyone, regardless of age or gender, who wants to learn math in an understandable - one could even say enjoyable - manner.
My daughter really likes this book.
2009-10-18 - My 11 year old daughter is in 6th grade. Pre-algebra concepts are already being introduced. This book helps her see there is an application for these concepts and helps to find a different way of thinking on how to solve a problem. The teacher may explain it one way, but she can understand it explained another way. It's been a very long time for me and these concepts so it helps to refresh my memory as well. Very useful and user-friendly.
