Homicide Life on the Street - Seasons 1-4 DVD Set Reviews: This is an awesome, addictive series 2009-10-08 - You will love and hate these characters, feel like you are personally connected to their lives. If you like Law & Order, this is where it came from. I've watched and re-watched this series several times.
does not get any better than this 2004-10-27 - Homidide was one of the best - and still is - one of the best police dramas ever to hit the air. Incisively written, always staffed with superior actors from the intense dramatic ones, such as the mavelous Yaphat Kotto as Lt. Al 'Gee' Giardello (who also wrote for the series), the ever strong Ned Betty as Det. Stanley 'Stan' Bolander (1993-1995) to the surprising effective comedic Richard Belzer as Det. John Munch (who did not die with the series but is now a character on Law & Order SVU), the intense Andre Braugher as Det. Francis Xavier 'Frank' Pembleton (1993-1998)
Running from TV-Series 1993-1999 it was created by Paul Attanasio with directing by a long line of talented directors such as Ted Demme, Steve Buscemi, Kathryn Bigelow, Kathy Bates Kevin Hooks, Clark Johnson (Det. Meldrick Lewis), Barry Levinson, and Kyle Secor (Det. Timothy 'Tim' Bayliss).
This series was funny, the stories interesting, pulse-pounding, involving. It showed their human sides of failed marriages, the gentle jesting and camaraderie, as they solved baffling crimes, serial killers, hostage situations, and did with such human compassion, quirkiness and understanding that you cannot help be moved, time and again. A series truly worth of being on DVD.
