Steven, a handsome, young theatre history professor sets out to write a stage thriller only to discover that his characters prefer a character study- and want it to be a movie, not a play. Basing the characters on his real life friends, Steven has created a conundrum. As the psyce of each character develops, they begin to consume Steven, especially the uncooperative lead character, Vertigo. Add a psycotic killer and Steven may be pushed over the edge. In the vein of Fellini's 8, Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author or Woody Allen's Deconstucting Harry, Generic Thriller shines a light into the creative process of a writer/director on the brink of insanity.
