I Just Wanted to Hear the Words Reviews:
Fresh from Hudson Hawk! 5 Star Review
2008-05-01 - Love when stars who don't really sing sing! Loved his singing in Hudson Hawk and he's just as good here. I met him once in New York. Very protective of the wife.

Bravisima! 5 Star Review
2008-04-03 - Absolutely wonderful! Sure, there are others better (ala Sinatra, Martin) but this is genuine. It is clear Danny wants to let his hair down and do something he enjoys. Isn't that what life is about? To boot, he is darn good and swings like a champ. His "made man" persona really shows through and you can almost see him casually dismissing any critics--I bet he doesn't care one bit!

Keep it up--we can tell that you perceive no risk in putting it out there. I'll buy another, just cut it!

This Cat Can Sing!!! 5 Star Review
2007-06-04 - Yes. Danny Aiello, the actor. At first glance, I figured that this was just another vanity production. But when I heard this one I was pleasantly surprised: He really does have a good singing voice. And after a couple of weeks, I caught myself listening to Aiello's release over and over again. No, he isn't one of the greats, but his recording has really grown on me.

What Aiello brings to this collection is what makes him so good as an actor: the ability to tell a good yarn and convince his audience through well-delivered dialogue--in this case, lyrics. There are plenty of sentimental favorites here. His version of the Mills Brothers' hit "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" captures the right balance between hopefulness and loneliness, and brings back a lot of memories from my own childhood (it's one of my father's favorites). On bossa nova arrangements of Cole Porter's "You'd Be So Nice to Come Home To" and Pee Wee King's "You Belong to Me," Aiello glides effortlessly from singing on the beat to the backbeat. His scat covers of "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie" and "Pennies from Heaven" remind me a lot of Buddy Greco's showstoppers.

Aiello is for real. I eagerly await his next release and hope it's sooner rather than later.

2006-08-25 - Easy Listening, sounds like Danny had a good time recording this

Album. He has had a wonderful career and brought us many

wonderful performances. And fan would enjoy this effort by

I can't believe the gushing. 2 Star Review
2005-06-22 - Danny Aiello the actor...wonderful.
Danny Aiello the singer...well, let's just say it's a good thing he has a day job. I am sorry. I am not one to usually put down someone who is probably a real nice guy and works real hard, but this album is beyond bad. Strike that, the arrangements are pretty good but Mr. Aiello simply doesn't have the musical chops to pull this stuff off. I'm sure his friends and family thinks he's all that, and he probably knocks 'em dead at local pubs and at parties, but simply put...he isn't cut out to be a recording artist. His intonation is way off, his timing shoddy at best. He attacks these songs with all the voracity of a toothless old man gnawing away at a juicy steak....Plenty of desire, just no bite!
I am sorry if this comes off as being a bit harsh, but I gotta call 'em as I see 'em. Give it a listen and try being objective. I'm sure you'll agree. If not, then I guess there's nothing left to say other than...pass the A-1 and enjoy!
