Editorial Review:
Daughtry achieved global success with its self-titled debut, the biggest selling artist release of the past two years. The band's Grammy-nominated, quadruple-platinum debut garnered multiple American Music Awards, World Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. Daughtry spent most of the last two years on the road, performing to sold-out arenas, but is now back with the follow-up to the its massive debut. Leave This Town will be available on July 14, 2009, and was produced by Howard Benson.
Leave This Town Reviews:
No disappointments here!!
2009-12-01 - Daughtry is nothing short of amazing, and this new release is excellent, from the lyrics to the accompanying music, and, of course, the voices, both Daughtry's and his backup vocalists.
(And I also respect Daughtry's commitment to his wife!)
We're an American band.
2009-11-30 - The message of "Leave This Town" is clear: Daughtry is a band, not a solo act. From the group photo on the cover, to the extensive credits in the booklet, to the overall ensemble feeling of the songs, this is indeed a group effort. Which is to Chris Daughtry's credit. He could have easily promoted himself as a solo artist, with a nameless backup band, as many artists do. Instead, he seems happy to share the spotlight with his newfound bandmates.
The album is more musically diverse than the first Daughtry release, with a more acoustic feel on many tracks, and a less Nickelback-esque feeling overall. Chris seems more relaxed on this release, which is not to discount the first album's excellent rock vibe. This record just feels more natural and less like an American Idol album.
Lead single "No Surprise" contains an extra verse on the album, which is seldom heard on radio. Follow-up single "Life After You" continues the newfound relaxed vibe, while the excellent "September" should prove itself as a future classic.
So far, Daughtry appears to be a band in it for the long haul; indeed, a traditional American rock band, which is increasingly rare on today's charts full of R&B posers and Disney pop stars.
Daughtry does it again
2009-11-29 - Daughtry does it again. Another great album. Although not as packed as his first album, this one has some great songs.
Great album!
2009-11-24 - This is a great sophomore effort by Daughtry. His debut album was good in so many ways. This album just adds to the great sound that they already had. I like that he didn't change his sound to try a "new" sound. He just stuck with what made him popular....great rock! If you even remotely liked the first album, you will really like this one.
Favorite CD So Far This Year!
2009-11-17 - I love every song on this album, but September is definitely my favorite, closely followed by Open Up Your Eyes. I've been listening to it since it came out, and still haven't grown tired of it. I especially like how they added some country flavor to it. Awesome work Daughtry!
