Description of Bones - The Complete First Season:
A taut series filled with drama as well as great chemistry between its two lead stars, Bones is a strong addition to Fox's television lineup. Debuting in 2005 to favorable critical reviews, the series shares an audience of fans with the CSI franchise. Smartly written and well-acted, the first season of Bones focuses on the collaborations between FBI special agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel), whom Booth somewhat sarcastically nicknames "Bones." Each of the 22 episodes follows a premise well-known to regular viewers of crime dramas--a murder has been committed and a body found. The team's job is to figure out who the victim is, how he or she was killed, and how it was done; that part doesn't differ from other shows on television. What sets the show apart is the humor injected into the episodes (Boreanaz is particularly good at delivering wry lines). There's some wicked humor in the episode focusing on Brennan's attempts at dating, which is nicely offset by the horrific crimes she has to deal with. And for a show with such attractive leads, Bones doesn't make a huge point of dwelling on any possible attraction between the pair. Rather, it takes advantage of their playful bantering, which is more akin to that of bickering siblings than repressed lovers--for this season, anyhow. The series is inspired by real-life forensic anthropologist and author Kathy Reichs (who stars in one of the featurettes on the four-disc set). In a nice play on art imitating reality, Kathy Reichs also is the name of the heroine in the murder mysteries that Dr. Brennan writes on the side. By the end of the season, viewers will learn enough about the characters to care, but not enough to completely understand why they are the way they are. That is an ongoing mystery. --Jae-Ha Kim

2008-10-06 - I thought the show was great, I like medical thrillers and dramas and this was really good.
Intelligent, witty, funny!
2008-09-30 - This is a unique series based on a book by a real life forensic anthropologist. I have laughed, cried, and marveled at the storyline, the chemistry, the quirky character development, and the amazing technology and thought processes presented in forensic crime solving. The action is fast-paced yet intelligently developed. I'm so happy that there are writers out there who haven't totally bought into the "dumbing down" that is so typical of television these past few years. It can be graphic at times (dead bodies, right?), so I wouldn't let the kids in on it. Enjoy!
Setting up the backbone of a great series
2008-09-15 - Bones is a show that succeeds, and succeeds incredibly, because of its characters. The range and depth of this show's characters is not only well developed, it is continuous and makes us keep watching. We see the characters learn, evolve and change.
Season 1 establishes the working relationship between Seeley Booth and Temperance "Bones" Brennan. He is an FBI agent and she is a forensic anthropologist working for the Jeffersonian. Their partnership is not only unique, it is ... show would Booth put it?... Symbiotic. These two complement each other perfectly, each learning from the other and learning through their interactions. Booth is the jock, charming, intuitive guy and Bones is the rational, assertive, and yet, socially awkward brilliant scientist.
The rest of the team is composed of Jack Hodgins (the bug guy), Zack Eddy (Bones' assistant) and Angela Montenegro (Brennan's best friend). Their working and social interactions are back makes this show great.
Bones Season 1 Boxset
2008-09-14 - I enjoy the product immensely. It came to me in an expeditious mannner. The only downside would be that it is double sided. I prefer onesided dvd's.

2008-09-06 - I just discovered the show BONES. It was a great help to go back to Season One and discover the relationships between all the characters. I love the way they are slowly developing. This show offers more then mystery. Highly Recommend the entire series.
