Television's grooviest family hits the road again in Season 2. This second year brings more of Danny's schemes, Keith's girl troubles, and rock 'n' roll. Plus, a dancing bear takes center stage, Laurie dates a biker, two Partridges run away and harried manager Reuben gets his fair share of headaches. In this family the adventures never stop, but with mom Shirley at the wheel, they always have plenty to sing about.

Description of The Partridge Family - The Complete Second Season:
By the second season (1971-72) of its four-year run, America's favorite rock 'n' roll television family found its groove, with well-honed comedic timing and familial chemistry that helped secure The Partridge Family as one of the brightest sitcoms of the decade. This three-disk set includes all 24 episodes where most of the action remains close to home; Keith's role expands (as David Cassidy's real life stardom as teen idol crystallized); and the stories exploit the acerbic banter between Danny (Danny Bonaduce) and Reuben Kincaid (Dave Madden). By year two, Simone, the family dog, has come and gone, the theme song has changed to the familiar "Come On Get Happy," and Brian Forster replaces Jeremy Gelbwaks as Chris. Always cool and self-assured, Shirley (Shirley Jones) gives college life (and romance) a try; Chris and Tracy (Suzanne Crough) run away after their mom helps them pack; Laurie (Susan Dey) accidentally hands over her diary to the school newspaper editor; and Keith has a crush on "Dora, Dora, Dora" (season opener) and discovers that love is not so much blind as it is tone deaf. Genuine comedy reigns during episodes such as "Whatever Happened to Moby Dick?" when Danny decides to incorporate a whale into their musical act; or "Fellini, Bergman, and Partridge," where Keith produces a home movie (with Reuben making his "screen debut" in gossamer wings) and Danny tries to turn it into a money-making scheme. Especially heartwarming is the Christmas episode, "Santa, Don't Bring Your Guns to Town," with a memorable stint by guest Dean Jagger. Other guest appearances of the season include Rob Reiner, Howard Cosell, Meredith Baxter, Rosemary DeCamp and Ray Bolger. Surprisingly durable, the show's groovy songs and likeable cast have great appeal making this nostalgic dose of pure pop well worth the investment. The lack of bonus material is disappointing—audio commentaries, cast interviews, or outtakes should be de rigueur—but fans should be forgiving because the essential remains: solid family entertainment of a bygone era, still brimming with good vibes. The Partridge Family - The Complete Second Season Reviews:
How do DVD companies define the word "complete"? 5 Star Review
2009-12-24 - How do DVD companies define the word "complete"? This item is described as the "complete" second season. It isn't. During PFs 2nd season, there were 2 episodes on each week: a PF and an episode of the PF spin-off series "GETTING TOGETHER". GT ran 14 weeks and then PF went back to an episode each week. This "complete" box set doesn't contain a single GT episode. It should have included all 14 GTs to be "complete". What's here is great, but where's GT? The 1st season of PF wasn't complete either; it didn't contain the "epilogue" to the "Knight In Armor" segment or the original unaired PF pilot from 1969. At least seasons 3 and 4 are complete. There are 2 solutions to this: 1) put GT out on a 2 or 3 disc set (and include the uncut "Knight" and the unaired PF pilot); or 2) put out a PF "megaset" with all this material, and throw in the "GOOBER" and "A.D. 2200" cartoons. Sadly, neither will probably ever happen, just as they won't put out a CD set of PF "lost songs". So what we get when we buy seasons 1-4 of PF are 95 complete PF episodes plus 1 incomplete one; that's 96 ... but with the 14 GTs and the unaired PF pilot the total amount of episodes comes to 111...(I'm not counting the cartoons)... so we are missing 15 episodes. TV shows on DVD are almost never complete. If you buy the "complete" "MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE" box set you don't get the last 2 seasons (which ABC ran). If you buy the "complete" DVD set of "THE MAN FROM UNCLE" you don't get "THE GIRL FROM UNCLE" or "PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES". If you buy the "complete" "MASH" DVD set you don't get "AFTERMASH" or "TRAPPER JOHN M.D.". If you buy the "complete" "COMBAT!" DVD set you don't get "GARRISON'S GORILLAS". You can buy "SANFORD AND SON" but not "GRADY", or "THE SANFORD ARMS", or "SANFORD". I could list several other examples (like how much is missing on DVD for "THE BRADY BUNCH")but I'm sure the point has been made. Please, DVD companies, when you put a TV series out, DO IT RIGHT! Be all-inclusive. Include EVERYTHING. The PF DVDs are still worth buying as this is the only way to get the "lost songs" on disc (albeit DVD). But I still miss GT, with Bobby and Lionel driving that old hearse around. If anybody has any GT episodes on DVD-R, please let me know. C'mon, get happy, put "GETTING TOGETHER" out on DVD!

Great enjoyable TV 5 Star Review
2009-03-20 - Throughly enoyed seeing all the Partdiges again - a really fine quality show, unlike the garbage that's on TV today. It's nice to see something innocent, without sexual innuendos and violence every 5 seconds. I have the entire series and would definitely recommend it.

True classic TV Series 5 Star Review
2008-10-12 - I have three seasons of the Partridge Family, and it's great to relive the 70's and the best (as far as I'm concerned) TV family of all time. Was such a fan of the show, and seeing them all over again makes me know why I loved the show in the first place. Want a comic relief from every day shows, this DVD is a must to get. You won't be sorry you do.
