Beavis and Butt-Head Gift Set (Includes the Mike Judge Collection Volumes 1-3, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America SCE)
Description of Beavis and Butt-Head - The Mike Judge Collection (Vols. 1-3 + Beavis and Butt-head Do America - Special Collector's Edition):
The boys are back in town and more clueless than ever in their second collection. For this three-disc set, Mike Judge raided from seasons five and six. Throughout these short films, Beavis and "the brown-haired guy" break stuff ("Stewart Moves Away"), draw stuff ("Animation Sucks"), and mess stuff up ("Premature Evacuation"). They also adopt a crazed canine ("Bad Dog") and sign up with a dating service ("Vidiots"), among other high-spirited hijinks. As in The Simpsons, the neighing ninnies never age (they're still 14), and, as in The Peanuts, parents are mostly MIA. Recurring characters include terminally uncool buddy Stewart, caustic classmate Daria, sadistic bully Todd, gullible neighbor Mr. Anderson, diametrically opposed teachers Buzzcut and Van Driessen (one's uptight, the other's laidback), and jittery Principal McVicker. Let's not forget Beavis alter-ego Cornholio and his burning desire for "TP." After a shot of an espresso, he's back for the attack in "Buttniks." Then after a few bites of Halloween candy, he rises again for fan favorite "Bungholio: Lord of the Harvest." For all the scatological shenanigans, there's always been a certain sadness to Beavis and Butt-head. In "Bus Trip," for instance, B&B reveal themselves—and not for the first time—as functional illiterates, while in "Stewart is Missing," they make his mother cry. If they didn't have each other, they would surely be the loneliest boys in cartoon land. Aside from the 40 shorts, Volume Two includes 13 videos with commentary. The most appropriate: "If I Only Had a Brain" by MC 900 Ft. Jesus. Featuring the voice talents of David Spade ("Candy Sale") and Bobcat Goldthwait ("Party," "Beavis, Can You Spare a Dime?"). --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Beavis and Butt-Head - The Mike Judge Collection (Vols. 1-3 + Beavis and Butt-head Do America - Special Collector's Edition) Reviews:
Breaking the law! Breaking the law!!
2009-11-23 - This collection is simply great, I couldn't stop laughing when I was watching the first shows of Beavis and Butthead, the one called "No laughing", it is admirable how stupid these guys are and how they give a f*** about everything.
In another review I saw that they were saying that there would be no music videos, this is not true, the third disc has many videos, I am sure those are not all the videos from Beavis and Butthead but you get some, and really funny ones. The things is that the videos are not a part of each episode as we use to see it in MTV(when MTV was a good source of good music, now it is all about reality shows and pop, hip hop, even reggaeton singers)
If you liked B&B and want to remember some great funny times... get it.
Awesome stylistic artistic bliss!
2009-09-24 - B and B at their best!
Although there are a few small negatives to this collection, it's simply the best official release we are going to get....
and boy is it worth it!!!
AWESOME!!
5 HUGE stars!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!
2009-09-12 - I LOVE VOLUME 2 OF BEVIS AND BUTHEAD!!!If you liked volume 1 your sure going to like volume 2.It was great.
Butt-Head! Kick me in the Jimmy!
2009-07-13 - If you're in the same general age range as Sid the Elf, you have a strong connection to Beavis and Butt-Head in some way. You might even say they are role models. No? That's taking it too far? Oh well. To us, for a time, theirs were lives to strive for. Let's see, eat nachos, sit in front of the tv and make fun of things. That was a rainy summer day for young Sid. In fact, was the premise of Sid loving B to this obscene ammount helped out by Beavis and Butt-Head ripping apart countless videos like the Safety Dance(which had many elves and a crazy looking chick in it)? It's a strong possibility.
Sid loved the boys so much that he talked like them pretty much non stop for no less than a year. He also had a peer who was trying to keep the spirit alive roughly 5 years after the show was done, culminating in the famous "Get outta here." Our love for all things that ruled reached its zenith the night we watched "Cow Tipping" no less than 5 times. But we digreess. The only reason we gave this 4 stars is because of the videos. How could they not have inter cut the videos like in the original episodes? Even if they could only get licensing for half of the videos, still put them in the episodes instead of lumping them together on a bonus feature.
Other than the awful misuse of the videos, this set is perfect. If you laugh less than 100 times watching these episodes...well, Sid doesn't believe you. This show was an absolute staple for Sid growing up and it's making its way into our wonderful B rotation through us popping it in after a flick, or watching a youtube clip. Either way it's back in Sid's life and we're a better elf for it.
Old-school Hilarity
2009-06-03 - Until I watched this box set, Beavis and Butthead was a mere memory of my childhood. I used to watch this with my older brother when I was 6 or 7, and even though I did not understand most of the jokes I still found great humor in the show. Now 19 years old, I understand the jokes and the show is just as funny as I remember it. This box set is a must have for anyone who is a fan of the show. They were also smart enough to pull out the music videos and put them on their own, separate disc for those who liked/disliked them. The only downside is that only about 2/3 of the episodes are in this collection. The other 1/3 were episodes Mike Judge thought were poor in quality.
