Classic Della Reviews:
It can't be said better, 'Classic Della' 5 Star Review
2009-11-14 - I bought this Cd for the second half, tracks 13 thru 24. Not to take anything away from the first half, it was the second that has been branded in my favorites part of the brain. When I told Neil Hefti how much I loved it, he couldn't remember it off the top of his head. "Oh yeah, what a pain in the ass, she wanted all that brass. It wasn't by favorite work, but when I'm gone, all I'll be remembered for anyway will be the "Batman Theme." There you have it. All great artist are poor judges of their own work. Tchaikovsky believed his "Nutcracker" was the worst thing he did and yet, even people who don't appreciate classical music are familiar with its melodies. Neil Hefti's work with Della will endure and it will be cuts from this, that you will hear on Music Channels.

I didn't know this was available! 5 Star Review
2006-04-26 - Like Eclectic, I first listened to this album in the 60s when it was a great favorite of my parents'. "The Classic Della" made me a fan of Della's, and it remains my favorite album of hers.

Reese's voice on these songs still gives me chills.

Della's Best 5 Star Review
2005-11-17 - This collection of Della's classics is simply wonderful. The songs capture the full range of her talent and bespeaks a time in music that is memorable. This is a great album.

Swept away 5 Star Review
2005-02-05 - I first heard this album, as a child, back in the sixes when my mother used to play it, and I've loved it ever since.

I'm so glad it's now available on CD. Della Reese has an amazing voice and her phrasing is perfect.

Many of the tracks are based on classical music (hence the name of the album) and while some classical music pursits will wince, many people will be swept away by the sheer beauty of it all.

For the most part, this is a very sentimental and romantic recording. Soaring over the top orchestrations combine with Della's clear powerful voice to sweep all before her in an avalanche of bygone romanticism. This album has an ethos from another age, when declarations of everlasting love were made and meant. As a matter of fact, I had "Till the end of time" playing at my wedding.

Classic della castle communications Australian issue 4 Star Review
2001-08-15 - Combining two of Dellas early RCA (BMG) albims this is well worth the money the classic Della not issued in europe until; 1968 was originally issued in America and the million selling single "Dont you know" taken from it the other album is "Della." The new australian BMG compilation of three cds miss's out some tracks from both albums and adds little of the repetoire so if your into Della then buy this rather than the Legendary 3cd set....
