On Top of Our Game (Deluxe) (CD+DVD) Reviews:
Snap Music...The New Generation Of Southern Rap (Rating: 4 out of 10- -2 stars) 2 Star Review
2007-01-06 - It seems like a majority of reviewers are correct about this album. Just plain wack and trashy snap music to try to sell records. Now some people think that I'm from the south, so I'm supposed to like this type of music. Wrong!! The same people who gave us that single "White Tees" managed to sign to So So Def (Jermaine Dupri what did you do, sell your soul?), and recorded a sophomore album.

Now the album is just plain wack for the most parts. Horrible lyrics like "Watch your face beat up my hand" from the somewhat hit song "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" and the un creative repetative chorus on "B**** Stop Callin Me". Mostly the subject matter on this album is about drugs, cars, and going to clubs. Whoop-dee-do. I can just go on and on about how horrible this album is.

The guest appearances are horrible also. "Oh I Think The Like Me (remix)" is just as wack as the origonal. This time they bring in the So So Def Allstars (Da Brat, Bow Wow, and Jermaine Dupri) to help add to horrible song. The only good guest appearance is the Three 6 Mafia assisted "Don't Play With Me", and that is one of the better songs on this album.

Overall this album fails big time. Dem Franchize Boys did show an improvement- techinically. Their self titled debut was just plain stupid. This here is a level higher, classifing it as wack. On Top Of Our Game is basically classified as 'been there, done that' only in a less creative way. If this is the "top of their game" their game must not be very big. They did go platnum...in cell phone ringtones, so there is money being made somewhere. Ususally I don't buy albums, if I've already downloaded already, or know that it is going to be wack. I never would have listened to this if my cousin didn't leave this at my house. Hardcore Southern listeners will not like this review, those are the people I can highly recommend this to.

Production: F
Guest Appearances: D+
Musical Vibes: F-
Overall: D-

Update: I origionally gave this album a 1.5, but seeing that this album is only good for clubs, I should have known better than to look for lyrical skills on this album. Once I realised that, this album was a little easier to listen to. It still sucks though.

i would give (-1) 1 Star Review
2006-08-21 - dfb sucks ,5 stars !!!! y all be kidding this is the worse album i ever heard .everybody is tired of leanin and rockin we all wanna reflect, think ,we need real music men with expression.

I'd give it 2 and a Half stars 2 Star Review
2006-06-29 - I downloaded this b4 it came out and I'm glad I downloaded it. "Oh I Think They Like Me" was an aiight song when it dropped but "Lean Wit It Rock Wit It" got played out the 2nd time I heard it. Only good songs on this album are:
My Music (cuz Bun B is on it)
Bricks 4 The High (cuz Jim Jones on it, beat is good)
Ridin' Rims (hot)
Don't Play Wit Me (Three 6 Mafia can't even save DFB on this one. but ok)

2-1/2 Stars -- Their more like a Franchize at the bottom of their game 2 Star Review
2006-05-20 - I know this is not saying much but this CD is actually BETTER than their self-titled debut album. Why do I say that? Because that album was overhyped with their hit song "White Tee" (which by the way I still never liked) and the rest of their album pretty much sounded the same production and lyric wise. The main problem with all these south artist and groups is that they all rap mainly about the same stuff, cars, money, girls and the don't F with me I'm the best now tracks.

But back to the actual album there is some versatility in the songs but unfortunatley they cover the same material most south artists are rapping about whether it's about sex "Freaky As She Wanna Be", the I'm hot now track, "Give Props", cars in "Ridin Rims", and of course the don't F with me song "Don't Play With Me".

I know it does help to have Jermaine Dupri produce your album for you but it doesn't help when he, Bow Wow and Da Brat outshines you on your own track on "I Think They Like Me (Remix)". Speaking of getting outshine by guest artist, Bun-B does the same thing on "My Music", and ditto for Three 6 Mafia on "Don't Play With Me". Of course everyone has heard their club banger "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It" which helped boost snap music but after a while even that song wore on me.

Yes the Franchize have helped along with D4L kick start the snap music craze, and this album is nice enough for a party. But those who want something with real lyrics will have to check elsewhere.

D4L = fell off 1 Star Review
2006-04-14 - On The Top Of What Game? DFB has no game whatsoever, they are atrocious and all their music is trash. I hope they ride their game straight to the bottom, because thats where they obviously will find themselves in about a month. "White Tee" "lean wit it, Rock wit it" have the same beat and same motion with the lyrics, if no one else notices that then u have to be a no-nothing psycho idiot. Holla to real artists in the midwest : Do or Die, Snypaz, Crucial Conflict, Psycho Drama, Twista, Kanye West, Common, Johnny P, Krayzie Layzie Bizzy Wish N Flesh Bone Thugs N Harmony
